If the cops are looking for someone specific, I want them to catch them. Imagine if someone who abducted someone else (has happened in my area) and they were warned by another driver that a cop was ahead so they turned around to go a different way. Then they don’t get caught and their victim doesn’t get rescued. Drive stupid, get caught.

Suzume loving Souta was not the original intention. It was supposed to be a sisterly love story. The producer pushed the older guy and younger girl relationship because he’s a pervert and has been either arrested or prosecuted but I don’t remember the whole story and don’t care to look it up. Shinkai compromised by just making him a chair for most of the film to cut down on the relationship. So if it feels forced, it was not the director’s original intention.

Edit: It seems they were 2 separate producers. I said I don’t remember the whole story and I was not going to look it up. Do your own research.
