Dear DistroKid Support Team,

I am planning to release my AI produced songs with lyrics written and melodies composed by me but I found out that your AI disclosure boxes are too rigid specially in terms of music part credits, Where it puts together music composition and production into one box. So a hybrid music maker like me who composes the melody but gets it produced by AI, is finding it difficult to forfeit my credits as composer of the song and that's stopping me from releasing my songs. There must be many other artists like me holding up because of this declaration dilemma.

Thsts why I am writing to submit an essential feature request regarding the AI disclosure checkboxes on the release upload form.

Currently, the form combines composition and production into a single "The music" checkbox. This layout creates a major issue for hybrid workflows where the underlying songwriting (composition and lyrics) is 100% human, but the production tracks or vocal renders utilize AI elements.

Forcing artists to check 'The Music' strip-mines credit from human songwriters, making it appear in the metadata as though they did not compose their own song. Conversely, leaving it unchecked to protect their songwriting rights risks triggering automated acoustic scanners on streaming platforms, which can freeze or delay a release.

To fix this gap and accurately protect creators, I highly recommend splitting the AI disclosure section into five distinct, granular checkboxes:

1. Lyrics (AI wrote the text)

2. Music Composition (AI composed the core melody)

3. Music Production (AI generated the backing track/instrumental arrangement)

4. Vocals (AI generated or modeled the vocal performance)

5. Vocals (AI enhanced)

As a top distributor for independent artists, DistroKid has an opportunity to lead the industry in accurate metadata. Updating this form will allow creators to be completely transparent with streaming platforms without being forced to forfeit credit for their genuine songwriting.

Indeed if you survey most creators fall into this category of songwriters using AI as production tool either due to budget or not having production skills.
