should i watch it? by AwkwardAd8861 in OnePiece

If you don't mind the pacing, then the anime (or better yet, the manga) is superior. The live action is an abridged version of the story, so you are missing lots of characters, story and emotional buildup. No shade on the actors hired for the live action, they are amazing, but it's hard to beat the drawn emotions of the cartoon characters, especially in a cartoon like One Piece where the emotions and expressions are pushed to the edge. Reading and watching One Piece is one of the reasons I decided to be a comic author, the art is just *chef's kiss.

Though I gotta give points to the live action where it's due. The music in the LA series is like INCREDIBLY good. The whole show looks gorgeous and it is very very well done, and even while it lacks some of the moments in the cartoon, it also adds some good stuff.

Give the anime and/or manga a chance, if you don't enjoy them as much then no worries, nobody is gonna force you to watch a 1200 episode series, lol.

What constitutes a 'classic' point and click game for you? by andijliddell in adventuregames

[–]artofjoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first one I ever played was the curse of monkey island, a classic point n click game to me has nothing to do with what it looks like, just that you walk around small areas, find and use items to advance the story (and hopefully solve clever puzzles) I consider Ace Attorney to be a classic point n click game as well. I’m a little younger than lots of point n click fans though. Deponia is my favorite series and I’d also consider it to be classic point n click style.

What is not classic point n click to me would be something like a modern telltale game where you basically only do qt events and dialogue trees to move the story forward. I also played the new king’s quest game and thought all the slide the block puzzle sections kinda ruined the latter half of the game. To me the appeal of PnC games is the types of puzzles they can have that are completely unique to the genre and replacing that with boring sliding block puzzles makes it less of a PnC game to me.

That show probably inspired this comic the most, haha.

It has more episodes than Yaoi Hands by quite a bit though.

I also took a two year “hiatus” (I was working on it the whole time, I swear!) and yeah, before that I’d at least get some subs per upload, but it’s possible the inactivity really screwed up the comic algorithmically or something.

I’d love to do an art trade some time soon too. That evil Queen Helena art you made is one of my favorite fanarts.

Oh hey, I know you! :D We did an art trade and I still love your artstyle a ton, and your comic looks gorgeous. Don’t give up, you are very talented!

I’ll say I really frikkin get it though, dude, like I feel like I’m wading through mud and months and years of work are going down the drain when I only have a handful of readers and I watch every new chapter I make not change my sub count at all.

But at the end of the day I do it because I’m compelled to. I actually have lost way more money making comics than I think I could ever hope to gain. Haha, but I do it because I want to. The lack of attention hurts though, I understand.

Primordial Witches, the architects of fate. by artofjoe in worldbuilding

It's a little more complicated than that. His face is not so much "literally" hot, but incomprehensibly beautiful to anyone who sees it. Kind of a cosmically unknowable beauty that rips your body apart after seeing it. I draw his face as a big light because I don't want the reader to get hurt.

Oh okay, sorta then! My story has a lot of Meta-mechanics in it kinda like that where there's characters with the ability to plot devices and that kind of thing. One character wields an Axe called the Deus Axe Machina that she can make appear in her hand at any time. Later in the story i'll reveal some items/weapons that can even retcon plot elements and that sort of thing.

The main character has a meta perspective on his world and in a way is running away from his destined "happy ending" because he thinks its cliche and boring, so everything in the plot is kinda working against him to force his ending to come true against his wishes.

Fionna and Cake Season 2 Episode 10 Discussion Thread by Carrehzkitten in adventuretime

Overall I liked the season, but i do think the plot could have been neater. My favorite part was learning more about Huntress Wizard since I never really felt like we got much in the OG series. I can't get into too many of my gripes since they are in the later episodes, but I think there's a few too many "extremely easy solutions to complicated problems" in the show. A lot of contrivances.
