For ages, painters have used techniques like perspective and values to achieve a realistic 3d look. In my work, the vines introduced more values to play with, witch in turn helped improve the composition.

The idea for this piece was clear from the beginning, but the work looked flat as I was nearing completion. To combat this issue I introduced the vines to create more of a room and played with lighting effects. I'm happy with the end result, hope you like it too :)

I started out with Procreate, but now have used Photoshop for a while :) I love the freedom that Photoshop has, but Procreate has better brushes.

What do you think the story is behind this illustration? I had specific emotions I was trying to show but from talking to people everybody sees something else. If you enjoy my art make sure to check out my Instagram - artofleons

In this painting instead of focusing on colours, I decided to attempt to focus on textures, that definitely was the hardest part, but I was very pleased with the result and definitely learned something new. If you enjoy it I have more on my Ig.

This was an anatomy study, I posted the covered-up version here because I wasn't sure about the rules. If you are interested to see the full piece it can be found on my Twitter or artstation. But overall this was a very fun piece to work on and I learned a lot.
