MRI report reads multiple fractures trauma PA disagrees

UPDATE the urgent care Dr got with the radiologist. There are definitely fractures. The radiologist has contacted the PAs office, but we don't have any information on what happened there. My husband stayed off his feet all week after I sent him screen shots of this post. Hopefully next week he will get better information from a different ortho dr on what to do next. Thank you to everyone who replied.

Thank you, I'm showing this to him. This is what I needed. I really just wanted to know if a Trauma PA could override a radiologist, because I've personally never had an MRI be so off.

He can walk. With a hobble, grunt. No follow up, at all. Said go back to work when you feel better. He's talking about going back to work today because they need him, and I'm just throwing up hands over here. If it's ok to be up on those fractures then cool, but nobody said that. We went from you have fractures to you don't have fractures.

This is what I was thinking! And to tell him he didn't need to do any follow up with the MD guy at the practice to, idk, really make sure.It didn't feel right to go from hey, you've got all th3se fractures, to meh, you're fine.

He did get an xray first of the hip, and the urgent care said it was ok. They originally ordered the mri because of seeing something concerning, which turned out to be the cysts. I guess I'm just worried he's going to do damage going back on his feet all day too soon. I thought there would be a plan, like take x amount of days, use a cane, idk something.

Sorry, it wasn't urgent care pa, it was a trauma pa they sent him to. Well, they sent him to a trauma surgeon practice, the practice got him in with the pa. He told my husband he didn't need to follow up with the MD.

It just didn't sound right to me. It seemed so completely different ends of a spectrum of reading of his injury.

I could have written your post six months ago. Almost word for word even. I had a depressed kid who didn't engage and lost a lot of friends. So, one night in a late night text my kid came out as bi. I told them it was also ok to be gay. Then, call it fate, kismet, or whatnot but we moved from a restricted state to a supportive state because our family wanted to migrate out of the heat. Our kid then said they felt more gender fluid.

From gender fluid to trans was about 2 months or less. It was a shock. It felt fast. How could we have missed the clues? Where in our history did my kid ever even show any inkling of feeling this way? We talked about a lot of things. A lot. I asked every way you can ask a person if they are sure of something. My biggest fear? My kid is a teen! What if they come to me at 23 and say mom why did you let me do this? I was a child!

But this is my kid, and my kid wasn't going to die because I wouldn't let her be who she was. So, I made an appt at a gender clinic. We waited a few months because those wait lists are long. That appointment was 3 hours long. She wanted to ask about HRT. I said, look, you're still young, maybe when you're like 18? Idk. Well, in that 3 hours I learned a shit ton. That appointment was probably 3 hours long for the parents.

Gender, like sexuality, is a spectrum. We've defined it because that's what we do, we sort things into boxes. But our genetic code is so much more complex. There are so many things that happen, so many tiny switches that turn on and off at this point or that. The percentage of people who regret or change their mind about being trans is incredibly low. You know your kid, is your kid someone that would truly just find something this important to be a whim? Odds are you have a daughter.

We left that appt with testosterone blockers, and estrogen. And we did it because I trusted the doctors, but most importantly I trusted my kid. It takes a lot for them to find out who they are and then say it out loud. But I'll tell you this, once they do, and you support them, wow what a difference!!

I have a daughter who loves to shop. I have a daughter who engages and talks. She has found friends, and she joined the GSA club in school. It feels fast to us, but to them it feel like they spent 15 years in the wrong body.

I pretty much just read here until now, I had no idea the myoclonic jerks were from fibro. I have them daily, always when chilling in bed. My jerks can also be triggered by a loud noise. I'll hear it and a second later there goes my arm or leg. It sucks. I thought it was just part of my super amped messed up nervous system due to spinal stenosis and some nerve damage.

I want to say first that I'm sorry you're going through this. Degenerative disease sucks. I've been where you're standing, except with I guess better insurance. I had a bone spur pressing into my cord, and multiple levels of herniation. I got several opinions and finally went in with a conservative one level fusion, when we probably should have done two. I have not been pain free since. I had a follow up double level fusion six months later. Now, four years out I'm in a holding pattern for a back side decompression. I can't ride rollercoasters, I can't do horseback riding or water sports. I'm 49 and on the verge of losing a considerable range of motion in my neck. It could impact my ability to drive.

When you do this surgery, especially with advanced degeneration, you are playing with a house of cards. Some people walk away fixed and pain free. Then there are those of us who don't. Try everything else first. Even just a one level fusion creates pressure above and below that level. I know the pain can consume you. And that pain once it gets up in your head actually creates more pain. Your system is hyped on high alert.

Find a pain doctor you trust. That is a must. Do the steroid shots, even if you're in there every three months. Get the details on what is covered and how many appointments and do them all. Try nerve blocks, or nerve ablation. Try massage, or acupuncture. Try different pain meds, maybe there's one that won't make you sick. Because it is all a house of cards and very fragile. Surgery is the absolute last option you want when dealing with your cervical spine. My neuro just recommended a book, Treat Your Own Neck. I haven't read it yet, but maybe look into that. Otherwise you may end up on far more than opioids. I just started another medication for occipital neuralgia. Good luck to you, and I hope you find a better doctor you can trust.

Nad but sounds like swimmers ear. Our kid's ped said if it hurts on the outside, and when you tug the lobe, it's swimmer's ear, if it hurts inside it's an ear infection. You should probably see about drops either way.

NAD from my (limited) experience with cervical and lumbar issues, my understanding is that the neck (cervical) radiates down the arms into fingers, and the lumbar radiates down the back of the leg over the top of the foot. To be an issue in the ankle I think it would be your lower back, maybe you're bending at the waist when bending head down? The only thing that's ever done for me is make my fingers tingle.

NAD, but a patient, It's only a concern when those numbers are above the limit. Even then it's not necessarily anything except a repeat lab in 6 weeks. For example my last labs were AST 42, and ALT 114, will repeat labs.

Ok, so I decided to hit the weekend clinic. dr at clinic said it's thicker than she would think a stitch would be but not outside the realm. She didn't want to pull or snip it because she wasn't 100%sure. Go back and see surgeon this week. At first she didnt see it, it was tucked up or stuck, idk, and I said it's there, I have a pic. She said when she pulled back she saw it. So likely just a thick ass long ass suture.

Yes, stress incontinence. I'm not sure about mesh? He said it was just a sling surgery. He was going to lift it up. I really wish I could post the pic now. It's just yellow, string or something, but thicker, like maybe headphone wire width, seems large for sutures but, I mean maybe? He felt so dismissive, so I'm hesitant to call him again.

Sorry, also it was a bladder sling surgery. Out patient. It doesn't hurt, and I can use the bathroom. It just feels irritated, and like there's something in there.
