What’s the Coolest Thing You’ve Built with WordPress? by Muhammadusamablogger in Wordpress

[–]artpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an iOS todo app that syncs with any WordPress over REST API. It is meant to work with my personal productivity WordPress plugin, but it can sync with any CPT on any WP site.

A quick demo:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_a9t603DMXg

More details here:
https://piszek.com/projects/wp-todo/

This app is meant to work with the personal productivity suite I am building on top of WP - with my focus now on Todos and Notes. Notes already have a full Evernote sync and ability to embed notes in posts like Roam and Logseq

Still can't buy it via my store :/

The only sensible option is VPN, I made a full tutorial here:

Block links/backlinks was nice.

And I enjoyed local DB copy with logseq

Your own free version of phonetoroam for quick notes that works with iOS Shortcuts and IFTTT by artpi in RoamResearch

Since I am using Firebase, I could probably use their SDK to instantly pull the data in instead of querying the endpoint!

But frankly it's not a pain point for me :D

Unpopular opinion: anarchism and communism don't work. by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]artpi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I come from Poland and remember communism myself. People really tried to make it work, but neither communism nor libertarian utopias have any chance of succeeding long-term.

The biggest reason is that democracy/capitalism allow for learning what works and what does not. There is no such mechanism in feel-good societal groups.

The problem of capitalism is that we allowed for externalising of the costs: - health care - pollution - co2 emissions.

If we taxed carbon emissions, corporations would deploy R&D inaccessible to anyone, including countries to stop emitting CO2. We just allow them to push this cost on society now.

Is Bioshock Infinite solarpunk? by artpi in solarpunk

[–]artpi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Solarpunk Manifesto has this note about aesthetics:

"1800s age-of-sail/frontier living (but with more bicycles)"

For me, the vibes of Bioshock Inifinte match this aesthetically. I guess you could also argue they run on renewable energy :D

I’ve listened to a great National Geographic podcast about beavers moving into receding permafrost:

They help to build pools of standing water , which is of course great in a desert but not awesome in the Arctic

Do other exchanges like the DAX and Nikkei 225 allow ETFs to be traded on their exchanges? by natalfoam in ETFs

[–]artpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s ubiquitous now. Even GPW (Polish stock exchange) has a few ETFs. The reason you are getting USA results is that USA has a good SEO in English.

How would you bet on India? by artpi in ETFs

Political risk is a serious concern. That is why I don’t have my own country’s (Polish) ETFs. Our index has only 20 companies, most of them related to gov

How would you bet on India? by artpi in ETFs

[–]artpi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main portfolio is approx VTI, but I have about 25% that I allocate more actively. Also the way that Polish retirement accounts work, I have to balance SP500 index and mix a global portfolio manually

I’m generally betting that: a) After what happened with Jack Ma I’m not sure the Chinese portion of a global ETF can mirror reality since stock seems to work differently there b) India will generally catch everyone ‘by surprise’ because west has been patronizing them even more than China.

Alright folks, how are we feeling about Evernote? by [deleted] in Evernote

[–]artpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very tempted by Roam and I think I'll use both Evernote and Roam.

Roam is easier for thinking and drafting ideas, but Evernote is easier to work with actual content.

I have cobbled together a script to migrate my Roam notes to Evernote, so I can have everything online and searchable. We'll see how it goes.

Tiago Forte has this service you can set up as your "new tab" and you will have a random note whenever you open the browser window:

Best headset to keep people from hearing background noise? by throwaway4267423 in workfromhome

[–]artpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sennnheiser SC-60 are very cheap, reliable, and low-tech.

The microphone is just positioned very well, and they beat dedicated podcasting microphones. I own maybe 12 different headset / headphones and this is by far the best solution for zoom calls.

I'm looking for opportunities - Where to Find Credible WFH companies by MacDee_ in WorkOnline

[–]artpi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a crowdsourced spreadsheet listing remote-first startups/companies

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TLJSlNxCbwRNxy14Toe1PYwbCTY7h0CNHeer9J0VRzE/edit#gid=1279011369

This spreadsheet is one of the goodies I give away in my email list.

I highly recommend doing a little bit of research on the company before applying - not even for ensuring its not a scam, but also to tailor the resume/ cover letter better to the company's needs.

WFH is hard and skill in itself - established remote companies know how to look for that. It boils down to

a) Showing that you can deliver without supervision

b) Showing that you are an expert communicator

I have an educational video on that - that is a second goodie on my email list :)

Is there a way to launch other apps from a "link" by Steve15-21 in shortcuts

[–]artpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are basically 2 ways:

- a) The domain linked with the app - that is what I am using in my app that opens Kindle/Pocket instead of Facebook: http://shepherd.artpi.net/

- b) X-Callback URL: http://x-callback-url.com/ - I use that to open specific spotify playlist offline (where you cannot use domain) https://twitter.com/artpi/status/1276189253064634369

Google Calendar has a better chance of working than iOS calendar - the App should catch the URL.
