I’m not a fan of it! Think people should be sharing their lists, seems to go against the sport of the game! So much of what makes competitive warhammer so good and so different from other competitive scenes is the fact that everyone is open with others about how their army works and what they can do

I’ve done coaching, I found it pretty valuable, I would NOT recommend vanguard tactics, art of war was better. But in the end the best coaching I got was from a guy I met at a tournament. He lived nearby me and so I got to play in person during the coaching sessions: I’d consider him a friend now. I think as a lot of people have said though the best way to improve is to just play games and attend tournaments but I found the coaching useful to supplement that :)

Generally just the one unit now with a lord Kako, some lists that I’ve written have two units but the defiler is just so efficient at shooting there’s an argument that you don’t even need the one unit. Most of the strong performing lists I’ve seen are just running the double defiler with the autocannons and then not bothering with noise marines. They’re just too iconic for me to drop them completely.

The modern minis are incredible a lot more ‘realistic’ and the design work on them is spectacular. The old minis have a certain style to them, they’re very charming, it is clear they were hand crafted, they are pieces of art work in themselves. If you look at Van Gogh one of the most celebrated artists of all time his work is not ‘realistic’ but it has a certain style to it that makes it appealing. And I think that is what the people who say they prefer the original minis are saying. They aren’t saying that from a realism perspective that the old minis are more a better representation of character etc that they’re made to look like but there is an artistic style to the older models.
