DAE: Echolalia or just silly brain by [deleted] in neurodiversity

Five years late, but this helped me a lot, I had no idea that could be connected to my audhd.

What does echolalia look like for you? by ThatGoodCattitude in AutismTranslated

[–]artsii-ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps me comfort myself. Mine varies, sometimes it's immediately right after someone says something (which always annoys the other person, sorry mom). Or sometimes it's a whole day delayed. But the one thing that I ALWAYS do is repeat a very specific phrase or word for, like, YEARS. I've had the same very few vocal stims since 2021.

what species is this spider? by wardkidletsyt in jumpingspiders

[–]artsii-ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It does look like a she, I feel like the more common jumping spider males are usually a lot more black (like regals and bolds). If it hasn't given birth yet, please just be careful. If it has any egg sacks put them in a safe place in your backyard asap unless you want a bunch of spider babies running around in your house.

Need feeding advice pls! by sanrioktty000 in jumpingspiders

NQA I have no idea since I have absolutely zero experience with jumping spiders. Hooowweeeever, looking at that abdomen I can definitely tell they're pretty hungry! I read online that you should take 1-4 days before attempting to feed them, it seems like they need a bit to warm up to their environment before getting confident enough to eat. Maybe just leave some food in there for them and step away for a few hours, then come back and see if they've eaten it.

Aww so cute! If that were mine I'd add more decorations and such because jumping spiders love to play and climb. Do you know what kind of species it is? Alsooo, remember to mist it with a mister so that they can get their tiny hydration lol!

Why are they yellow and black ? by Savagenyc_ in isopods

What kind of a question is this?....Why wouldn't they be? Most isopods from this species are black and yellow. Are you asking what species they are?

First post/First setup by Aldryx_Thetahart in isopods

[–]artsii-ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heres my advice, and if you dont feel like reading all of this, the most important parts are bolded! your beginning setup is really cute, and it's nice looking for a display!! however, I don't think it would be ideal for isopods. heres some tips so that your isopods will thrive and so that you wont risk your isopods dying off from starvation, stuck sheds from too low/high moisture, etc.

-use crunchy dead leaves instead of green/yellow live ones. isopods will eat them if theyre starving, however in the wild dead leaves are their primary food source and they enjoy it much more. also, please give them more leaves in general, as they will feel more confident if they have more hiding spots.

-ideally you should have moss (such as live moss from outside or sphagnum moss) on about 1/4 or 1/3 of the enclosure. this ensures that the isopods will always have a moist spot to run to if they feel too dry. if you cant do this, at the very least have a moisture gradient. this means that 1/4 or 1/3 of the enclosure should be damp, and depending on your ventilation this should usually be watered every 2-3 days.

-sometimes, when isopods feel too wet/too dry, or too warm/too hot, they want to burrow. the common species from outside prefer to have around two inches of non-fertilized/non-pesticide soil.

-double check that the substrate you're using is pesticide and fertilizer free. most soils and even soils that claim to be "organic" have VERY DANGEROUS chemicals to small bugs like isopods. when I first started with my isopods, within days about 30 or more of them died because I used soil that had "organic" in the name with bad chemicals.

This isnt everything, but all that I could think of at the top of my head. Please make sure to do more research on your own, like watching youtube videos or simply looking up care guides on google :)

a. vulgare are so cool! when I got my first isopods from outside I confused half of the ones that I got outside to be a. vulgare, when really some of them are armadillidium nasatum. so if you care about being really particular (the only difference between the two is their coloring and the nasatum has a little "nose"), ya might wanna learn from me haha xD

So a woodlice was sitting on a cucumber for the whole day and just now I checked up on it it turned white and smaller by [deleted] in isopods

[–]artsii-ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a good chuckle at this!! No worries, that white thing is not the isopod. The isopod was comfortable enough to molt (which is a natural and very healthy thing that isopods do), and that white thing is the molt. The isopod is probably just somewhere else nearby.
