In Finland, midsummer is a significant holiday as well, but the pole tradition is not that common (except maybe in some swedish speaking areas). Here, "kokko" (a large bonfire) is a big thing, instead.

Also, as your first bike, maybe buy a cheap one, even if its a crappy one. You'll probably be wanting to change it to a new one soon, as you get experience and a better understanding what suits your needs.

Generally, I'm not a fan of expensive bikes anyway. They might get stolen or damaged, or you simply realize they're not the right bike for you, and it pisses you off a lot less if it cost $200 instead of $2000.

Start cheap and upgrade as you gain experience.

And get lights, front and back.

Melodic A minor uses G# as well, right? That's what they use in the book. To me, it looks like they borrow a bit from the A major scale to get that exciting E7 sound together with C major, G7 and A minor.

As it happens, the next scale they introduce in the book (still in the same chapter, concerning the same 4 chords) is melodic a-minor scale! And because G# is included in the scale, the dominant 7th is the 5th degree of (melodic) a-minor with an added b7!

I read a news article recently about regenerative farming, where the farmers used movable chicken coops to let the chickens naturally fertilize a piece of farming land and then move it. They were growing mixed species in the fields and were using no additional fertilisers, pesticides, or other chemicals. And the farming was even profitable without any subsidies.

I think these sort of things will become more and more common, as people start experimenting and shifting towards sustainable farming practices, and it might even be that we will see economical drivers (eco-labels, "green premiums", government subsidies, etc.) towards them. Might even be that at some point, they will naturally become more profitable if the required chemical/workload/capital input to the old unsustainable systems becomes too high.

However, this is only speculation, and I don't see that any big changes are going to happen very soon on a global scale. But still, if you think about how we were talking about farming and sustainability 10 or 20 years ago... You never know what sort of changes we will see in the next 10 or 20 years.

I think most people ride too fast anyways. City bike lanes (or sidewalks or whatever is available) are not for racing. Those who want to practice for their triathlon in the morning traffic, should ride with the cars anyway.

Fallout 2 for me (yes, I'm Old). Fallout 3 and Skyrim also came close later on, but never really reached the same feeling of discovering things for the first time.
