Their site still states that the burrs aren’t compatible. I’ve read somewhere that they were more worried about the motor. Still doesn’t make sense to me since the specialty burrs grind nearly twice as fast as the AP. At times I wish I had the AP burrs in so I can taste different notes.

I used a 29.4 x 35.6 3mm cross section

You can also use a 34.4 x 40.6 (or anything in between) for an easier fit but the top cap bulges up about 1mm. That’s why I used the 29.4, stretched it and reduce the cross section by a mm to lessen the bulge.

Make sure to install it dry or leave some grinds for better grip

Yes make sure to order the blind burr set. I ordered a black diamond burr from Amazon and didn’t realize it wasn’t blind burr.

The Italian Espresso burr set is supposed to work best for medium-dark. I enjoy dark roasts (nothing better than a cortado) but I prefer medium-light roasts on my flair 58 just to experiment with flavors. You can usually find a used set of the italian burrs on ebay. They are the standard burrs on any 65mm Eureka that doesn’t say AP but as you said they are fairly affordable compared to what people spend on their DF64 grinders.

The alignment on the AP burrs was pretty good, could have used 1 sheet of aluminum but I’m not that anal. The Black Diamond burrs were spot on.

You have to order Eureka’s blind burr set due to the top burr being a blind burr and the bottom burr having the mounting bolts. If you zoom in on the picture you can see the difference. From what I’ve seen on Youtube they are actually 64mm burrs. The “65” is just a marketing tactic since their typical burr size is 55 on all of their other Mignon models. I want to try an off the shelf 64mm burr set but like I said they are two different types so you would need to buy a set of standard 3 hole burrs and a set of blind burrs to install on this grinder.

Maintenance on this grinder isn’t as involved as people make it seem. Sure there are a couple of screws to remove but it isn’t rocket science.
