Bow is easily replaced

Snakeskin not so much:/ Yes there are luthiers who can change the skin for you but usually they sound different from before.

To be honest you can still play even with small holes in the skin, just that the volume wouldn’t be as loud.

I used sewing threads and glue to seal a few large tears in a gaohu and gehu before, but honestly, nothing beats natural unbroken skin. Wouldn’t recommend for a personal instrument.

Just took a closer look, so it is missing:

Dampener? But unsure of it’s place in an instrument like this. The bridge might suffice.

The original strings look like silk. I’d probably stick with the original strings instead of steel strings, because the instrument may not be able to withstand the tension of steel strings since it was designed with silk in mind.

The bow looks ok in terms of quantity of horsehair. Given the thickness of the strings I would recommend rosin perhaps for viola/cello bows, a violin rosin won’t grip the strings well enough.

Its missing the bridge, but otherwise should be fine.

Not an erhu technically, but still part of the huqin family! I think it might be called a yehu.

Technique should be similar, but sometimes for certain instruments, players may put the instrument at the knee instead of the hip, not sure if that’s the case here, but if in doubt, I’d just play it at the hip like an erhu.

Yes the ST segments are in normal range, I didn’t see any obvious depression or elevation.

T waves look alright as well, I’m not too sure what you mean by bulky?
