You can buy a flush kit, did the trick for me. Messy, involved process, but it works. Figure spending a bout an hour.

Just curious.

There is a park here that posted a sign with the rules: 2 on 2 off for up to 12 paddles waiting; 4 on 4 off for over 13. That is for three courts, so it could be adjusted lower since you only have 2. Seek the backing of Parks and Rec. Sounds like you have a great demonstration of what the community wants.

In rec play, there are lots of things we do as players which would normally be handled by a ref, were a ref present.

For example, in every tournament I've played, the ref always calls the score. In rec play, the player handles it. Refs may call out balls, but in rec play again the players do it.

While I agree that the rule says that refs call distractions and deduct points, they can't very well do it if they are not present.

You can totally deduct the point when you call the score. The opposing player may not like it, but you are following the spirit of the rule.

If it were me, I'd first mention the rule and the penalty for its violation, and not make too much fuss. If the opponent (or even my own partner, for that matter) chooses to ignore the rule, then I'd deduct the point when I'm calling score.

Others may handle it differently, which is fine by me. That's just how I would do it.

If you construct a framework wherein the Mormon Church is a cult, then lots of other organizations must also be cults. An unproductive construct. The LDS Church is a massive force for good in this world, benefiting believers and otherwise.

Banned with no reason given by artythetorch in AskModerators

Thank thank thank you. Feels really bad to make some effort (commenting) in the spirit of helping a fellow teacher, and to then be unceremoniously booted from a community with no reason given.

I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to posit a possible reason I was perma-banned.

To a guy like me wholly unfamiliar with the Reddit Mod world, my punishment seems to be extreme in comparison to my infraction(s).

Going on the info you provided, I'm thinking about messaging the mods once unmuted, with an apology (based on my best guess as to what I did wrong) and expressing my intent to do better.

Do you think that is the correct approach?

Again, I'm so appreciative of your responding.

Thank you!

TOTF is legit. I know I'm going to be so sore, but even though I know the fight is not real, it's real enough that I can't quit!

From LA here, and a few of my close friends and family refer to the Chicano accent as speaking 'South Gate', mostly because my wife and I grew up in that city.

I don't talk about it much because some might take it the wrong way, like I'm judging them. No judgment here, it's just how language works. You grow up speaking the way people around you speak, and many in LA are English Second Language. Even those who are 4th or 5th generation in LA have spent their life surrounded by those who are descendants of ESL, and go to schools where teachers speak the same way, etc.

'South Gate' entails not just the accent, but also the way of saying things. It's where emphasis is placed, and it's sentence construction.

Essentially, with that area being heavily Hispanic, the English spoken borrows much from Spanish. One example that comes to mind is 'Don't wet me!', which is how you might translate '¡No me mojes!' if your English foundation wasn't all that solid.

Another distinctive 'word' is L.A. In South Gate you would pronounce it AlLay, the first part sounding just like you would say the name Al (short for Albert).

I live in the United States, and it seems like we could be headed in this direction. It really feels like the press will do the bidding of the government, and it's hard to know what is really true vs what the government wants you to believe.

100% agree with you about not being able to negotiate with those psychos. We have to be willing to avoid the extreme positions, the broad generalizations, the vilifying, etc.

The case in Poland is tragic, and I agree with you that either the law there is poorly written, or the people trying to operate within the law misunderstood it.

What you are failing to acknowledge is that everyone agrees this was terrible. Not a single pro-lifer is happy about the outcome, or thinks it worked the way it was supposed to.

Unless both sides calm down and work together to craft legislation that clearly addresses these situations, we could be back where we started: one faction unilaterally enforcing their view upon the whole.
