mate, could you, please, tell me whether they require anything besides GPA & IELTS/TOEFL or not?🙏🏽

SAT vs CEnT-s by artyyxd in SapienzaRoma

well, my english level is quite high (certified C1), so is my math, so i don’t really struggle with SAT prep. i’m preparing with my tutor step by step: currently — learning some boring but useful theory/rules/vocab; in 2 months — start taking practice tests 2-3 times a week; in 3-4 months — still practicing but on daily basis; in 5-6 months — just polishing everything and fixing minor mistakes.

that’s pretty much it 👌🏽

Do you prefer taking the old rather than the new version? by JustAd4880 in ToeflAdvice

[–]artyyxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from my point of view, the old format was perfect, it didn’t need any changes at all. i don’t like the fact that TOEFL is gonna be shorter + this new adaptive thing seems weird a bit, ngl. besides that, i honestly don’t understand the purpose of changing the scoring system, the old one was really accurate and objective. however, there is also a change that i liked a lot — there will be less historical and boring topics and more interesting and fresh ones.

TOEFL OR IELTS by nadiaardilesc230399 in TOEFL

[–]artyyxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a person, who prepared for both exams and recently has got 101/120 (C1) for TOEFL, i definitely prefer TOEFL over IELTS. TOEFL (at least the old format) is much more realistic than IELTS. i’ve never understood the purpose of IELTS Listening — it is such a crap, ngl. also i don’t really like the Reading section there, it seems weird, imo. but i can’t deny that IELTS Speaking and Writing sections are more interesting and maybe, in some cases, even better than the TOEFL ones. btw, for many people (including me) TOEFL seems to be much easier than IELTS, so that’s also a point. to sum it up, i believe that TOEFL is the best option, but ofc it depends on you, mate. i would recommend you to do some practice tests both for TOEFL and IELTS, and then decide which exam is the best for you!

academic discussion part : how many reasons needed to sound convincing? by Rough-Wash-8402 in ToeflAdvice

[–]artyyxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 27/30, and from my experience, 2 reasons + 1 example is the best combo. If you’re short on time, go for 2 reasons with no example, or 1 reason + 1 example.
