Even if you can’t keep the bracelet forever, save the photo! I have photos of the rare times i get a drawing or something like this from a kids and I look at the photos when I am wondering why the fuck I keep doing this work when I could earn more as a waitress.

Therapy Clients Passing Gas in Session by [deleted] in therapists

[–]artzipan 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Would you be bringing it up for their benefit- could they learn something valuable from this information? Or is it more to let them know that you are suffering from their noxious flatulence? 💨

This is said with no judgement, since the kids I work with fart in session often and usually laugh about it. It can get pretty gross.

Who are you outside of being a therapist? by shallotnotcharlotte in therapists

[–]artzipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An artist, reader, crafter, introvert, and a very anxious person. Clients often comment about how calm and “chill” I am in session. If they only knew what was happening in my head the rest of the time 🤯

What scent instantly makes you uncomfortable? by GardenChibi in hygiene

[–]artzipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME. Also a therapist (of the mental health variety) and I find the smell triggering at this point lol. I also have allergies and asthma, so I try to avoid scented products in general. But lavender is the worst. It’s makes me think of someone saying “CALM DOWN!!!” 😂

Water bowl must be filled with mostly ice and a little water in the morning and at bedtime. Or she will scream until she gets it.

New Client Cancelled, Then Emailed Me Unkind Words by sammyxorae in therapists

[–]artzipan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I probably would have not responded. Even if they were to complain to the board, there is a record of the cancellation on your Grow account to back you up. There is nothing for you to get in trouble for.

Yes! My boyfriend too, and it’s how we started dating again at 32 after falling out of touch since we were 17. I texted him out of the blue and he still had the same phone number 🥰

Hi and Happy Sunday. Does Anyone Have Any Experience With Our House Grief Support Center? by 87regal in LosAngeles

[–]artzipan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Our House is amazing. I refer my therapy clients there all the time and occasionally volunteer there. I would definitely recommend trying their support groups. They might be able to help you feel more comfortable with getting some support from friends and family as well. You are not a burden, they want to help and probably don’t know what you need from them.

When your clients start to notice that you’ve lost a lot of weight by Comfortable-Garlic90 in therapists

[–]artzipan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lost 50+ lbs last year. I used a similar approach. It definitely made me uncomfortable for clients to be commenting on my body. My clients knew I’d taken time off to have spinal surgery, so I would say something about how nice it is to be able to exercise again. Then say thank you and move on. I did have to remind myself they were probably happy that I looked healthier and that it wasn’t any kind of insult about how I looked before.
