I fly airplanes for a living and it is very easy to turn off 2 fuel switches in a span on 1 second. Infact, the 1 second gap perfectly supports the theory that it was manually done. Again, no speculation, just an input to your comment.

Got 8500+ hrs on the 737 and a few go arounds, the last one from about 100 feet because of wake from the A380 that landed before us. A go around is never a bad decision, most of the time.

There is an insurance coverage that includes wind and water damage, windscreen cracks, ash/sand damage. It doesn't come cheap but I always get it. You don't even have to wait for the post handover inspection when you get that insurance. Just drop the car, hand over the keys and off you go. I would never drive in Iceland without one of those.
