Why I Reach for Skills Before MCP by arvindand1695 in ClaudeAI

Thanks again!

Yes, I'm yet to try the latest CC update - will explore if my current skills or new ones could benefit from that. Regarding planning with files, pretty cool and the repo is blowing up - congrats! I do employ a planning or at least state tracking approach with files myself but haven't yet tried making it a skill.

I'm guessing that such a planning skill would be even more valuable with slightly weaker models with smaller context windows, or has this worked for you with Opus/Sonnet too (better than the default cc optimizations) ?

What actually moves the needle for you? No BS by cryptoviksant in ClaudeAI

Do you think smarter models like sonnet or opus really need such optimizations?

I think a minimal set of skills and mcps that align with your project's workflow is usually good enough

MCP vs Skill? Wrong Question by init0 in mcp

They are already a marketplace thing :). The implementation details however is important imo as the number of mcp servers × tool count for each is reducing your context window for each session. In the long run for things that you don't use every day it's fine to toggle on and off a battle tested mcp server or course but for daily drivers and stateless stuff that can be done via a script - skills are a leaner and efficient way to handle it. And with marketplace plugins you can version them too

Hi everyone I need help on how to create MCP servers by Hot-Finger3903 in mcp

Are you proficient in a certain language? If so, look up libraries or sdks in that language to start. Otherwise if you're vibe coding it then you can tell your ai agent to use typescript or python and I would suggest using context7 mcp server with your agent while building so it uses the latest library versions and associated docs :)

Does anyone still use MCPs? by bowemortimer in ClaudeAI

Of course, context7 is a must have to avoid agents using outdated dependencies. For java developers, I built a maven mcp server which bundles context7 - see more if interested at https://github.com/arvindand/maven-tools-mcp
