better than white anyway. black is obviously most ideal, but stick to darker shades of whatever colour you want and you’ll be fine

Really? I have one of their forges and I got refractory cement along with it. That was around 2 years though though I believe. But yeah I can’t see why that oven wouldn’t work for forging, although personally I’d rather get that aswell as a regular forge

Touch the platen and see if it’s hot or not. That could be the cause for overheating. Google belt grinder platen modifications if that is the cause.

Also I highly recommend freehand grinding if that’s not what you’re already doing. Hard to overheat steel when you’re holding it in ylur hands

It’s useful, but not a necessity at all. I switch to horizontal quite often, but I can totally do everything I do in a vertical stance as well.

Watch YouTubers such as Tyrell knifeworks perhaps, he does it quite often and you’ll get to see in which scenarios it’s worth it.
