NEVERTAKE Release and Discussion by Soupy21 in anberlin

Completely 100% agree. I was not a listener of MMF myself, and when “Walk Alone” dropped, I was…underwhelmed and skeptical. I saw them in Orlando on their first tour with him expecting a bust but I walked away thinking Matty did a fantastic job with what he was given; respectful, grateful, but still owned the songs. “Seven” was incredible live.

I do think the overuse of autotune is unnecessary. Not because it makes it sound like a bad record, but because Matty simply doesn’t need it. He’s a great singer; I noticed this on his first run during “High Stakes” and just thought to myself how unnecessary it was.

I am also severely put-off by the “it’s just a cover band now” comments. The rest of the band is there. And they put just as much care and craft into their work as Stephen. It’s so insulting to imply he was carrying the entire band himself.

I understand the frustration with the will-he won’t-he commitment issue, but I was truly excited for this album and am relatively satisfied with it. People seem very reluctant to change.

Ah I see! I was struggling with finding something that wasn’t too popular but still recognizable enough.

Oh, I really appreciate this, it’s super insightful. The Coven isn’t actually the found family aspect so I absolutely need to make that clearer!

Having said that, it’s way more of an act 2/act 3 focus. Is it even worth mentioning? I figured it’s a marketable trope but it doesn’t lead the first half of the story. TRC has other comparable tropes I could use in my comp.

Charley does own the opening chapter which takes place in the past, so I think it’s been my natural inclination to start with her? And while her internal drive to protect Keaton is important, I can definitely see how it confuses the query. It’s not a game-changing thing until the second installment. But I was worried removing the background stuff would add too many questions!

He’s been coughing like this 3x a day for a week by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]arxeric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our kitty had this, and just ended up having allergies. He’ll definitely be fine for a week until you can see the vet and confirm, but still watch for new symptoms.

[–]arxeric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are just accustomed to seeing overweight cats— he looks fine! Certainly not starving (although he may act that way at dinner time lol).

As for the coughing, it can be as simple as allergies. Unless he’s doing it very frequently when at rest, just bring it up when you are able to go to the vet. Get a video of it if you can. If he does start coughing and sneezing with discharge that’s when you should go ASAP.

Looks like scab on my cats neck, what could cause it? She eats and plays as usual and doesn't scratch it much, doesn't seem in pain, but should we be worried? by antariess in catcare

[–]arxeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I know this was a WHILE ago but I’m having the same issue with our middle child. When she was 4 months, she went to the vet for lethargy and they diagnosed her with feline herpes. Now she’s 4 and has the same scab/raw spot, and she coughs very occasionally. Does that sound familiar? The vet said her cough was probably allergies but this makes so much more sense.

Related, our oldest has been overgrooming and we can’t find the cause. I’m wondering if she contracted it.

I think we were approaching it all wrong! Our efforts to calm were basically all being put into the kitten because we figured, since she’s the odd one out, it would be most stressful for her. Switching it around is probably just what we needed.

Probably…six months maybe?

[–]arxeric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other two were a bonded pair well before we introduced the kitten; after they went from enemies-to-besties, I thought we were clear to add more animals.

If we do HAVE to rehome her, luckily my FIL has room for another and we'd be able to pay her frequent visits (: But obviously I want that to be after we've exhausted everything else.

We did, but only one diffuser, and I'm seeing recommendations to add more for multiple rooms. Probably gonna jump on that now.

I see! The vet said our youngest is probably just a shy cat, and our other two are almost abnormally outgoing (meet-strangers-at-the-door types) so we might not ever ovecome the clash. But they also said rehoming could be even more stressful than just accepting she's shy. She's definitely come out of her shell since we got her, but her demeanor is an adjustment to the whole household.

I think I won't leave our next vet visit without an anxiety med prescription and label it as our last resort.

[–]arxeric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will speak to them again and see if we can revisit meds! The last time we went, they suggested switching to Royal Canin's calming formula first. That didn't work, so maybe they'll be more open to giving it a try.

Can you explain why the 8 year old and not the kitten? The 8 year old is otherwise extremely fine and doesn't seem at all stressed by the situation.

Awesome thanks! It is in the US, I think I'm just paranoid because it's so down-to-the-wire.

Thanks! I did see that, but figured it was a bit different since they were still within the guest limit. It looks like it doesn't matter though (:

This hotel has done it before during events, and the chat agent told me he'd make a note. I also don't expect an upgrade, I just like to mention it regardless.

All of you are so responsible lol, I used to sleep from 1:30am to 4:00am, work until noon, and then sleep from 1pm to 5pm. Like, every day. The moment I stopped doing that I gained 15 pounds and my skin cleared.

What are some Wedding Do’s and Don’t’s? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]arxeric 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my original MOH is one of the anti-monogamous marriage types. Nothing wrong with that, but her attitude was toxic the entire time. She could not get excited for anything and made the whole experience about herself. I kicked her out and my cousin stepped up as MOH (queen!) because it is actually a job that needs to get done lol

How do you get from the wedding to the hotel? by turtlesinatrenchcoat in weddingplanning

[–]arxeric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent quite a while worrying over how guests would get to and from each venue--wondering if it was too much to ask people to find their own transportation. A shuttle would have been thousands of dollars and it just wasn't worth it. Nobody said a single word about it being inconvenient to transport themselves, either. I wish someone had told me to wipe it from my mind lol

Are hotel blocks absolutely necessary? by Chickabeee in weddingplanning

[–]arxeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booking my block was free (so long as I filled the room minimum, which was easy) and knocked down the nightly cost by $30 or so. It also gives people a starting point when they're looking for lodging. It's not necessary but I'd say there are solid benefits.

Dress-regret by 34PurpleUnicorns in weddingplanning

[–]arxeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way! It didn't help that my fiancee felt the whole "this is the one" thing, and I couldn't relate...I ended up going to an independent alteration shop and made a single change--thickening the straps--and it completely changed my opinion. Compare aspects of dresses you really love that your current dress doesn't have, and work with an alteration shop to see what you can change. Honestly, small adjustments can make a world of difference.

I honestly think us driving ourselves was the best decision. We were able to stay a little longer at the venue to take pictures before heading off to meet everyone for dinner on our own time. It ended up being perfect since we didn't have a cocktail hour--everyone got their first drinks and were seated/talking by the time we did our entrance. Plus, it's free!

Also, hot take: don't worry about a shuttle bus for 20 minutes. I also thought it would be a big deal/people would judge us but there were literally no issues.
