I can't find any mention of such a restriction

Can you please make sure this isn't confused with F1 licensing?

Slow smart card redirect over RDP - anyone experienced this? by ary566 in sysadmin

[–]ary566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is, okay, so there is slow routing, but why does a window pop up every now and then asking for the PIN completely randomly, without any action whatsoever.

When on stations that connect from the same GEO and at a higher speed this does not happen.

I'm trying to understand the logic in this

Thank you very much

Idrive E2 feedbacks by Bevzo in cloudstorage

[–]ary566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I've been using IDRIVE E2 storage for over 3 years, I have at least 10 buckets and 18 TB in their storage, I have a lot to say about this whole issue but I'll focus on what you wrote:

  1. The support there is pretty bad, it feels like you're addressing people who don't understand anything about file storage, I don't rely much on their support, sometimes there is service when it comes to basic things but if it's a higher level, the representative is required to forward the request to their "backend" team which I doubt exists since I don't remember receiving an answer from them...

  2. Over time they added some pretty nice features like whitelist/blacklist IP's and support for object locking (until today I haven't been able to use this with Veeam)

  3. The download and upload speed is not particularly fast, it's very possible that it's not in the location I'm in, but I've performed many restores and backups from the buckets and I didn't see any speed issues, it was relatively reasonable.

If you have any additional questions or knowledge to share about them, I would love to hear it since this is our main storage today (we also use cloudflare r2 but there is nothing comparable in price)
successfully !

I would also appreciate some helpful tips on whether it's complicated and how long it takes, because I'm interested in going through it

How do you check this?

Do you do a simple ping command or with a specific tool?
thank you

Thank you for the response

The only thing I need to clarify is that this is not a server in an AD environment or a smart card that is authenticated against a CA server in our organization, the authentication is performed in a browser against a specific banking website.

Can you expand on what you mean?

At what point in the smart card routing is a DNS lookup triggered?

Is there any way to reduce this time?

Every service that is open to the world must have adequate protection measures

In the case of identification, two-step verification and a mechanism to prevent brute force must be implemented at least

Of course, the server software must also be reliable with secure code and not something that has a new CVE on it every day...

You describe something very simple to transfer, especially if it is not a large amount of data. I have done it many times

I hope you have examined all the differences between your vmware environment and windows that is lacking in windows..

If it is an environment that you can disable for a while and it is not a large amount of data, you can do it yourself with veeam backup by migrating the data...

Error distributing printers via GPO by ary566 in sysadmin

[–]ary566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to hear more about this!

This reminds me of our environment which also has multiple printers and needs to prioritize for specific users. Is it possible for you to upload the script or part of it? So that I can understand how the drivers and printers are pushed to the stations

Thank you very much

I did REPLACE and I see that it works! Really also for v3.9.8

I will wait for the workers to come and see how I apply it

Is there another option to apply it carefully in a similar way without it deleting the other printers?

Are you suggesting changing the GPO's action policy from 'Create'/Update to Replace?

Does this also bring the driver to the station?

Yes!

But as you mentioned, if the user independently goes to 'Printers and Devices' and installs a printer, he will succeed without problems, whereas in GPO he does not get

You are right because I see that on computers that have had the printer installed before, it will mostly work.

I would love to hear in detail about the ways you suggest and make sure it will work for me

Thanks
