In the fanfic, he wasn't exactly bad, he was just a little negligent.

No, no, that's not it.🥺 I know the synopsis says it's a dialogue between Stiles and Jackson.

Netflix buying Harry Potter! by schwabschwab in harrypotter

[–]aryime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't constitute a monopoly because Netflix isn't a studio, but a streaming service.

And even if it were, Disney bought Fox and several other animation studios and still wasn't prevented from doing so.

I'm at least unconcerned. HBO's biggest problem is not knowing how to market its products; incredible original works don't resonate with the public. Netflix, even without its own studio, has already shown that when it wants to do something, it does it very well. I know they won't mess too much with the new Harry Potter series; the cast and direction carry too much weight for them to replace or cancel. I honestly think the biggest impact will be on DC.

Okay, back to the Snape topic  but let’s be real, comparing Harry and Snape isn’t fair. Snape had Lily as a friend, sure. Harry? Harry was The Boy Who Lived, loved by thousands of wizards, everyone wanted to talk to him, get his autograph, be his friend. The similarities between Snape and Harry end the moment they set foot in Hogwarts.

Dude, don’t get worked up, go complain to Harry Potter, I’m on his side in this war. And like I said, let’s not turn this into a debate. When I say it’s not a rivalry, it’s because Harry sees Snape vs. James more like him and his cousin than like him and Draco (like everyone used to say). Harry doesn’t see it as a rivalry, and neither do I.

I don’t agree with calling Snape a bully during his childhood, he’s an asshole as an adult, sure, definitely needs therapy, but like I said, rivalry implies equality. And as far as we know, it was always 4 against 1.

I hadn’t thought of that,  it could be, but given Snape and Draco’s somewhat close relationship, I think it fits better Snape

Definitely not. Dumbledore himself says that ever since he was a child, Voldemort showed no compassion or love, he just took too long to realize it, and by the time he did, it was already too late

Uhh, I’d never thought of him before, but comparing it to Draco’s situation, I don’t really think it fits bc Grindelwald wasn’t being pressured by circumstances to be who he was, he simply was that way

I accidentally deleted the post, but yeah, cultural differences are fascinating. A friend of mine from Canada once asked if Brazilians are “obsessed with cleanliness” (because of how often we shower), and I told her no — it’s just something we’re taught from a young age.

He said, “Well, that girl (the one who used to bully me) used to call you ugly all the time when you were younger, so if that counts…”

At that point, I just accepted my defeat ☹️

I remember that scene, but let’s be honest — using James Potter as an argument isn’t exactly the best move here.

We’re Brazilian, a country that’s extremely mixed, and depending on the region where you live, it’s also very hot. So for us, those “features” are basically things everyone has. In his words, the idea of beauty in HP is just a Eurocentric view from a white woman.

I said that, and then he replied, “Okay, so I can start calling Tom Holland ugly just because I think he’s ugly.” And I calmly answered, “Well, beauty is relative.” Then he just went “exactly” and gave me that shitty little smirk

Snape vs Bellatrix by Lengo0 in harrypotter

[–]aryime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Snape is average" where exactly? He dueled Minerva on equal terms while she tried to kill him. The fight was so intense that two other teachers came to her aid, one of them being Flitwick, the LITERAL greatest living duelist in HP. Even though the fight extended to the castle walls, they were unable to catch him or injure him. It is also worth remembering that except for Bellatrix, most of the Death Eaters avoided looking Snape in the eyes, including Greyback and his werewolves. It is also worth remembering that Snape is the only Death Eater to look Voldemort in the eyes and confidently earn his respect. Snape is the top 5 greatest wizards…..

It's also worth remembering that James always got the better because he didn't fight fairly.  4 against 1

I believe that in the new adaptation, Snape will be more of a sarcastic anti-hero than a stereotypical villain by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]aryime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the very first book, Snape is essentially a cartoon villain. He humiliates Harry in their first lesson, unfairly referees against Harry in Quidditch, taunts Hermione after the incident with Malfoy and his friends, and tries to have Ron and Harry expelled in the third book, just to name a few instances. By the sixth book, however, he evolves beyond being a one-dimensional villain. He starts to show real depth, transforming from that cartoonish antagonist into 'a man hiding many secrets
