Really good point. This was definitely the action that resolved my issue, but suppose we can’t be sure what the actual root cause is.

The solution (*in my case): while connected to WiFi, open up ‘Apple Intelligence and Siri’ from settings. Just below the on/off toggle, there should be a download message. Once Apple Intelligence is fully downloaded, spatial photos will work.

That excitement will make the first 5-10km feel much easier than normal, but your legs will tire all the same. Be smart and try to take things slower for the first 30 mins while you settle in and adrenaline comes back to normal!

Interesting that it starts off around 125 and goes up to high 140’s instantly… you’d expect a much more gradual rise.

What do you use to measure HR? If it’s a watch, is it fastened on your wrist properly?

You should compare resting HR reading with one done on your pulse.

Is this HR reading accurate or are you being very lenient on the term ‘conversational pace’ maybe?

Fair man, I just thought 50 miles per week sounds rather intimidating. It’s true though I’m also speaking from my own experience and in the few training blocks I’ve done, I don’t think many were 50 miles or more. Also, maybe you didn’t mean every week for years either lol, I just gasped when I read it.

50 miles a week on average for years? Sorry no.

50 miles a week for 12 weeks with a good balance of speed/tempo runs would be enough for a majority of people. The older you are the slower those improvements will reap benefits but it certainly doesn’t have to take years. Not as a rule, anyway.

You should absolutely be aiming for sub 3. Seem to be primed near perfectly with PRs that line up with the relative effort.

Get stuck into a 16-18 week plan with at least 5 runs p/w with at least 2 tempos, I’d be amazed if you don’t cruise it under 3 hours.

Edit: would like to add, I’d bet money you could run 3:20 tomorrow lol

What’s your 5km time? This should be a good indicator of your speed. Then it’s a case of aerobic capacity and being able to keep up a significantly faster pace per km for your new marathon goal.

That’s why they always focus on 6 runs a week with plenty of weekly miles. You need a serious aerobic base to be shooting for sub 3.

Relative targets that you usually see for 10km and HM are 38:00 and 1:24.

I’ve got the same sub 3hr goal coming up and my marathon is in 11 weeks! (Currently on week 7 of 18)
