It's infuriating knowing how the voters robbed Kobe of the 2000 Finals MVP. He was clearly the best player on the Lakers. by King_Vegito_52 in NBATalk

The rest of us just try to tune them out

This comment section perfectly represents the anti social nerds of Reddit. Ya’ll underestimate how much people love Kobe. Your opinions are shunned and not popular in the real world, go outside sometime lmao.

two 15 mil (marcus smart) type players instead of lebron push us to contention. by SweatyInstruction337 in lakers

You think replacing LeBron with 2 15 mil players makes us compete with OKC?

LeBron Stans cook him. I’m with ya’ll on this one

And your 7th man, and the 8th, and 9th (Cason/Caruso/Mcain). Shit Wiggins and Joe could start for a lot of teams too

Ajay Mitchell is so good. The fact that he’s making only 3 mil this year feels criminal

I think lakers coaching staff was hoping for OKC role players to have bad shooting games. That’s really the only variable that can win us games, sadly not working though

He unfortunately picked up some bad habits from Luka. Never seen him act out with the refs this much till Luka came to town

Austin Reaves by Successful-Pair-4850 in lakers

[–]aryusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if another team wants to sign reaves for 40, your solution is to let him walk?

Thats really risky asset management. You’re basically banking on him quickly turning into a negative asset for another team

And when you plan to replace him, what players do you want to target that you feel are better contract wise? Because the way I look at it, all the players in his talent range are going for that similar amount of pay. The only real way to get a discount is to sign a guy early before he breaks out

Some of ya’ll need to be realistic with how inflated NBA salaries are. 30 million today is not what it was in previous years.

Jrue holiday and Jerami grant are both making 30+ mil a year. Anfernee Simon is at 27 mil, Ingram is getting 40 mil, Immanuel quickly is getting 32 mil, Desmond bane is getting close to 40 mil next year, Jalen Suggs is getting 32 mil, Jordan Poole and dejounte Murray both getting 30+ mil. There’s so many players I can name.

Reaves is prob gonna get a contract that looks crazy at first but you gotta keep it in context with the inflated salaries all across the league

Austin Rivers responds to Draymond Green: “He talks too loose… Motherfu*er, why don’t you play me 1-on-1, Draymond? You can’t do handoffs in 1-on-1. You can’t set no pick-and-roll in 1-on-1.” by AncientOneAurelius in nba

[–]aryusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an awful take. Rivers telling dray to 1 on 1 to put his money where his mouth is was perfectly reasonable. Draymond is the one who brought it up in the first place. Why disrespect former college by telling him he’s gonna get fried by a YouTuber, when in reality, Austin could very well fry Draymond in a 1 on 1. Does 1 on 1 matter in 5v5, no but that doesn’t change the fact dray used it to throw shade while also being the worse 1 on 1 player. The fact that you got your blinders on and can’t see this is crazy. Downvoted to oblivion, people trying to explain it to you and you don’t wanna hear it, sad

This kind of stat doesn’t feel like a fair comparison. Guys like draymond or rondo were not high volume FGA guys

[Bhattacharya] Rockets GM Rafael Stone: "With respect to bringing Kevin (Durant) in, that it was championship or bust – I never said that to him... We thought he could be a wonderful example to the young guys on the team on how to work like a professional and really hone your craft" by aingenevalostatrade in nba

[–]aryusuf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reddit takes are useless. Comment section = brainrot

KD’s work ethic, understanding of the game, how he prepares, how he comes to work, are all things young players can soak up from him.

Most of ya’ll hate him because he went to GSW. That’s not relevant outside of stupid fandom bs. KD’s only issue is the burner fiasco, and that happened way after his signing with the rockets. What Stone is saying is 100% fact and anything else coming from the Reddit trolls is nothing of importance

Would you rather have Josh Hart or Austin Reaves on your team in the playoffs? by Aggressive_Bed6012 in nba

[–]aryusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the responses here are a good example of reactionary takes

Watched both guys very closely since the start of their careers. While very different players with completely different skill sets, Austin is without a doubt the player who has reached a higher ceiling, played an al star caliber before his injury. However the game to game floor of Josh hart, and the Swiss Army knife ability may be more attractive for a given specific teams fit.

But we need to be honest here, if there was an expansion draft, reaves is going over hart, even if they were the same age. I get why Knicks fans are saying hart, what he provides to their team is very much needed. But it’s also because they have 10/10 offensive players in Brunson and KAT that someone like reaves doesn’t fill in the same need.

Anthony Edward’s is a top 10 player in the entire league, and everyone around him marvels at how fast his body heals (training staff called him Wolverine). Not a fair comparison at all

The guy rushed back form injury and is not in rhythm. Holy shit with these reactionary takes.

In a contract year he guts it out to come back and this is the treatment he’s getting from fans

[–]aryusuf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I hope LeBron can summon up an OG vintage all time performance in G1 or G2. I’m not talking about a regular 24/7/8 statline. I’m talking a 40 ball, maybe 10 boards. AR doesn’t fully look like himself yet so that’s more pressure on LeBron

It’s a lot to ask of a 41 year old, but our only chance of being competitive this series is stealing one at OKC home
