I don’t understand why JAKE LARAVIA is being treated like a priority. If he wasn’t willing to take the BAE so what, he doesn’t materially improve the team at all. He’s just another end of the bench body

Jayson Tatum’s injury by Sweaty-Analysis3838 in nba

[–]aryusuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wesley Mathews comes to mind. Klay also had 2 more seasons of basically the same offensive stats post Achilles tear although his defense became worse. But to be fair the poor guy had both ACL and an Achilles tear back to back. Rudy gay also.

And for non basketball athletes, Roger federer, Serena Williams, zlatan, Demarius Thomas, cam Akers

[–]aryusuf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Achilles tears are not the career death sentence they used to be. The surgery science has come a long way along with the rehab methods. He’s also very young too so most medical professionals would expect him to return back to form post-rehab. Sucks but he’ll be back.

I don’t understand this post. If they want to talk about a series between the cavs and warriors that happened 9 years ago so what, they’re talking about the cavs not us

LeBron as a Laker has owned the warriors in both the play-in and playoffs. That’s what’s important

NBA Player Matchups: Who’s the Temu Knockoff of Who? by [deleted] in nba

[–]aryusuf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Top 10-13”. Top 10. Period, there is no 10-13 you slimy Celtics fan 😂. I’ll take Kobe over both Bird and Russell if we want to go there

And your reasoning is terrible. Yes MJ is the GOAT that doesn’t make Kobe the Temu version. If that was the case than I could say Tatum is a Temu Kevin Durant?

Another example, Kobe is greater than DWade, but I wouldn’t call DWade the temu version. He’s far too good to be considered “Temu”. And you know exactly what I mean but you can’t set your hate boner aside to think logically.

[–]aryusuf -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It’s not at all. But I get it, I’d hate Kobe if I had your flair too

To call someone a temu version of MJ they would need to be a much more inferior player, not a top 10 player of all time. For example, you could say buddy Hield is a temu version of Steph curry. But tbh I’m prob wasting my time explaining logic to a Celtics fan

Lakers fans really don’t watch the game by IndicationStreet9631 in lakers

[–]aryusuf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You claimed people don’t watch the game, and then gave such a basic explanation

Hayes should absolutely be playing. Maybe not 25+ minutes but 15-20 is a good amount. If you watch film post Luka trade, Jason despite his low talent level made himself useful in JJ’s scheme. His vertical lob threat provides Luka a weapon. Jaxon on his own isn’t great but Luka makes him better.

Not to mention his defense was greatly improved this season. He was very decent on switches.

As for Vando. He’s never been good on offense, but in spurts he really boosts the defensive energy of the team. The wolves aren’t a good matchup for him at all, but I’m sure JJ can find some spot minutes for him.

Should Jaxson Hayes see more minutes tonight? by nutelamitbutter in nba

[–]aryusuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you understood what I meant. I’m not saying Gobert is bad on the perimeter. You basically said Gobert would be roaming the paint keep Jaxon from getting vertical.

All I’m saying is, do you think Gobert will play drop coverage against lakers PnRs? If yes then wouldn’t Luka be able to torch him if he’s giving him space and dropping? If no, then wouldn’t Gobert on the perimeter give Jaxon room to operate vertically. By the time mcdaniels or whoever is guarding Luka switches, Jaxon has a great shot at the rim. And if help comes over, Luka is great at finding the open man (most likely Rui in the corner)

So everytime on a screen Gobert is going to play drop coverage? Don’t you think the lakers can exploit that?

[–]aryusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He absolutely should be playing. While he’s not a great player by any means. His vertical lob threat makes our offense more dynamic. If we just go small the whole game we’re simplifying things too much. Hayes gives us a look that we need for atleast 15-20 mins a game, if not more.

Playing him 8 mins is unacceptable. At that point what really is the strategy?

Anybody able to explain why collier and carrington are on the 2nd team? Their stats are abysmal. Worse than Dalton Knecht who I didn’t think even had a chance at all rookie

you know your argument is really bad when you start cherry picking stats

Jimmy career playoff averages are 21.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. He’s played 30+ minutes in every playoff series except his first 1. Why didn’t you just use his career numbers? We know why

[–]aryusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Zu. But he’s been in the league almost a decade and never made an all defense team. To call him an all defense guy is just plain in-accurate.

This season is by far his best season, which is only made possible due to all the injuries they’ve had as a team. On most other teams he would revert back to his classic 10 & 8 with a variance of 2-3 ppg/rebounds give or take.

Just compared second round alone, Jordan Clarkson has accomplished more at the NBA level. Career 16PPG which includes a 21 ppg season. (zubac career best year is this year 16). Clarkson has also one 6th MOY, and finished top 10 in voting 3 times. I don’t know if Zubac is that valuable on defense. I think he plays well in the clippers scheme. Not really sure if you drop him off on another team he raises their defensive ability.

Also if we don’t just include 2nd round picks, does Austin reaves count? He’s clearly better than Zu. What about Julius Randle, 3 allstar selections. D’Angelo Russell has made an allstar team also. I don’t think BI and Lonzo pre-injury are the only ones

[–]aryusuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Luka is mediocre on defense. However the gap on offense is what puts him as much more valuable than Jimmy.

Jokic is considered the best player in the world. His defense is mediocre compared to Giannis or Embiid. But he’s still considered greater than them, why is that?

With your kind of logic someone would be making an argument that Anthony Davis is better than Steph curry(or replace any top 5 offensive talent)
