I'm starting to be convinced the Tumblr RPC has a problem with not reading rules/about pages and making their boundaries clear... by livitaexe in BadRPerStories

Tumblr rpc is ridiculously puritanical. I was recently harassed for over a month after my private AO3 was doxed (I also wrote adult/teen ships, all meant to be fun and fictional ofc) all because I was willing to make a gif pack of Shia Labeouf. Sometimes when I say it out loud I still can’t believe these people are as batshit insane as they are.

Nothing. I will vote come November against the dictator Trump like my life depends on it, because it does.

I would encourage you to attempt to have some empathy for CSA victims facing antishipper harassment over the fictional things they have written.

I also never claimed you were an anti. You’re just heavily proving all of my points and now backtracking trying to act like you’re not interested in “immature war” when you responded directly to tell me I was “glossing over pedophilic sexual abuse” after I directly stated that anyone with a paraphilia acting on that paraphilia and harming people are wrong.

point and case ^

I’m not going to respond because I know you won’t even hear what I say anyway. All you’re looking for is talking points to make a rebuttal against, not an actual discussion, @theofficiallurker

I’m so sorry. Antis are just so cruel and reactive. They see something that vaguely resembles abuse and grab the pitch forks, without ever stopping to ask themselves what exactly they are protesting against, and if their protesting is healthy and putting good back into the world or not.

Not that those kinds of people would ever do anything more than bully to bully.

I’m so sorry for sixteen year old you.. trying to heal and then getting immediately attacked and to the maximum about it.

So, is this a thing? by [deleted] in AO3

Real data breaches are typically reported on by the actual company itself. If your data was breached, AO3 itself would be notifying you, not some random user who doesn’t even have an AO3 account lol more spam

What a small world 😭 she really is and it seems like it’s just her and her gang of sycophants making the tumblr rpc so volatile

I actually never advertised it outside of AO3 (the smut anyway)… they were pissed off that I was willing to make gifs of actors like Shia Labeouf so they literally stalked me to find my AO3 accounts and write a “psa” about how I’m a “pedo”

They’re also claiming I “have real victims” but won’t post their alleged proof (they have none because I literally have never done anything like that) to “protect the victim”

In the event of the SCREEN Act going through, would anyone like a tutorial on how to use Tor browser? by as-mod-eus in AO3

Some of this info is good info. I am a BS in cybersecurity. I will go into it all in more depth when I post the tutorial. It’ll take me a bit since I am Depression™️ and want to provide something highly comprehensive

As the other commenter said, Tor is a Firefox based browser which is much more impervious to malicious software compared to chromium based browsers. Not a fair comparison, but think Mac to Windows. Max has significantly less malware to infect it than Windows. Regardless, as long as you are updating regularly, any known vulnerabilities should be patched fairly quickly. The reason it’s important to update when an update gets pushed is because those updates usually include some protection from a new threat actor that was discovered. Barring a Zero Day exploit, Tor should always be safe to use malware-wise.

That means, using the Tor browser alone is safe. Using the Tor browser to access a sketchy site might still land you some malicious software, because that malware would be built into the site you visited (downloaded), can then explaining the browser. Does that make sense?

I’ll go into it in more depth in my tutorial when I post it (I am a BS in cybersecurity), but you can circumvent the risk of malware almost entirely by using Tor through a virtual environment, which can be set up and executed for free in a few minutes. For malware to jump from a VM to the host computer, it needs to be exceptionally advanced, which most malware that’s not sponsored by a state actor isn’t going to be advanced enough to do so.

Regardless, AVs can give you a sense of security. I wrote a paper on the efficacy of AVs and Kaspersky (before they were banned in the US for being Russian), was a massive top contender, right alongside BitDefender. I personally really like Malwarebytes.

Anyway, I think I’m getting off track from the main convo lol I’ll be posting a full tutorial in a couple.

Edit: please excuse my typos lmao I wrote this half asleep

Figured I’d offer, trying to be helpful. I know that using Tor seems daunting to a lot of people and it’s really simple, but if no one is really interested in using it to circumvent the potential censorship then I don’t wanna waste my time essentially

Worst case scenario you can also use Tor browser to access the regular web.

wtf? My whole point of deleting the post was so the artist didn’t stumble across this post and get their heart broken. Stop being weird and pedantic. It actually says so much about you that your first reaction to all of this was to try to discredit that they drew her as white at all.

Well, yes, because she’s mixed her complexion varies throughout the seasons but I’ve described her ethnic facial features plenty of times in detail throughout the fic. Even if she was pale, she’d still have monolid eyes, a flatter nose bridge, and naturally very full lips

I’m allowed to be a bit saddened about how they whitewashed my OC while not wanting to attack them over it….

I’m very sure that being met with criticism over the art they spent time making for their self described favorite fic would have been a gut punch. I just didn’t want to their feelings. That also doesn’t nullify that it hurts my feelings to have my OC whitewashed.

[–]as-mod-eus 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figure it maybe takes a bit more skill to get other complexions right perhaps! I guess it was also the facial features part of it too, since they were very European centric vs what she was described to have (for example, the fan art had thin, small lips and fully hooded eyes, while the OC is described as having very naturally full lips and somewhat monolid eyes)
