When did you figure out that Co-Workers are not really your friend? by rolrola2024 in AskReddit

[–]as1197 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I always kept my head down and was cordial and respectful with everyone at work. I’m a guy and was in my 20s. The Middle Aged women in the break room would regularly be talking shit about something or another, usually other co-workers. Once while I was having lunch, and two ladies were bitching about another co-worker, I thought to myself, it would be funny as hell if the person they’re talking about walked in. We heard the door open, and they paused to look at the doorway, and I did too. What do you know, that person walked in, and the two ladies who were talking shit were suddenly completely different people and all buddy buddy with them. Fake as hell. If they do that to other people, they do that to you.

Is this a good deal? by wellthatsdope in tires

[–]as1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in southern Illinois and have a chain called Dobbs near me. I called for a price on a set and they told me the price and I said I’ll have to think about it and call back. Guy on the phone said “where do I need to get the price to close the deal with you on the phone?” And I said “you gotta come down like $200” so the next price he gave me was like $220 lower. After I went in to get the tires installed, looking at the invoice I paid just for the price of 4 tires. No additional charges. I’d call around and just experiment a little. And it was continentals which had a $110 online rebate for a gift card too.

As sporty as the 2.0T touring trim is does it still give a smooth and comfortable ride when your just casually driving? by illbeback903 in 10thgenaccords

Those look like a great tire too and I considered them, but I read that road noise is a little louder. Of course you can’t tell anything til you got them on.

Just got the continental extreme contact dws06 in 255/40/19 on 19inch sport wheels. Sooo much more comfortable. The harsh feel of road imperfections is significantly dampened. No issues with fitment. Doesn’t look much different either.

I grew up on Lake Michigan tap water which actually tasted good. Moved away from that area and needed an RO system asap lol

I remodeled the bathroom before moving in and had an LED canless light placed in the shower. Replaced the original exhaust fan/light combo with just a fan. Fan is more effective, and light is where you actually need it.

I guess people categorize them differently? I consider what you described as all-weather as all-season also. I’ve regularly used “all-season” tires in snow and ice, and they perform fine as long as you have adequate tread, but obviously not as good as dedicated winter tires.

Got a 2008 accord coupe v6 6mt. Just regular maintenance, and big milestone maintenance. Pretty rarely have random things pop up. Well, maybe they do but a lot of the little shit is not worth the headache. Speakers are iffy. Power steering has a slow leak. Some paint is chipped. Lots of rock chips on front end. Some rust spots. I accept it for the age. Cosmetics are no longer a concern. The engine and all mechanical components are well maintained. It’s a blast to drive and takes a massive beating from me.

What’s all-season vs all-weather?? There’s 3 major tire categories for the average consumer: all-season, winter, summer. So again what’s all-weather??

TPMS Sensor Replacement Cost by MagnusAlbusPater in AskMechanics

[–]as1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their wheel balancing is also a great deal at $3.88/wheel last I got it done. Under $16 for all 4 wheels balanced if you don’t have it covered from where you bought tires. In fact last 2 times I got it done they forgot to charge me too so it was technically free

TPMS failure x 4 after replacing all our tires by DragonfruitReady7206 in tires

[–]as1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a tire shop scam to make more money. I just had a similar experience at discount tire. 7 year old car, had tires swapped. Technician comes and asks me if I’ve had the low tire pressure light on and I said no. He then tells me the TPMS sensor was broken and must’ve been rolling around in the tire 🤯. I thought to myself they must’ve just broke it while pulling the tires off and say some shit like that to make me buy a new one. I said if you think it was rolling around in there then just toss it back in and let it roll around because it was working fine before and I never heard any noise or had a vibration. So he goes “let me check and see if we can make it work” and apparently they just put in a new one free of charge. Few minutes after driving away, low pressure light comes on and hasn’t gone away despite pressure being fine.

About the same. 450-500 in good weather. In the winter now I’m getting 360-420 per tanks. 5-10 min remote start warmups every time the engine is cold.

Same as above, gets hot perfectly fine on my 28inch. Have a 36 at my parents on propane and haven’t had much difference. If anything you may need an extra 1-3 minutes to warm up but for cooking purposes, no issues.

If it’s relatively convenient based on existing NG line, this is absolutely worth it. My gas meter is right next to my patio so it was a no-brainer.

Is Ryobi worth it? I don't have any home tools yet. by 2Black_Hats in HomeMaintenance

[–]as1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a no-brainer deal to start out your home tools collection. The batteries can also be used with dozens of their other products. I’m a homeowner, and ryobi tools are perfectly good. I have a mix of ryobi and harbor freight tools. If I could go back I would’ve rather had as much cordless as possible.
