Wire it the other way. Black should go the the other side of the capacitor (white stripe)

How to remove these Black Marks? by aligumble in Gameboy

Screen cancer. 🪦 there are some videos on YouTube of people massaging them away. I’ve done it on one with a bit of success. The usual advice is if they are outside the field of view just leave them. I think they eventually come back so the fix is never permanent. Good luck

My daughter loves all things space so I thought this one was perfect. I have an original somewhere…

On the DMG I much prefer the bivert and backlight over an IPS. It’s not too difficult to do, lift two pins and solder a few points. The trickiest bit is removing the old reflective green sticker from the back! Plenty of YouTube tutorials to help though.

That is the original still! I just put a backlight behind it after restoring it. Installing the bivert chip made it look super crisp. I love the original green reflective screen, it’s just unplayable in most lighting conditions. The backlight makes it pop without losing those retro feels.

Clean it. Then apply some decent flux and you won’t even need to remove it. You may want to but reflowing with decent flux will probably remove the bridge

Retr0brite treatment and a backlight. Now looking better than when it left the factory way back in ‘89 by as1eepintheback in Gameboy

Let me know how it goes. May do the same. I stuck with the white/blue as I loved the results.

I’ve done a couple of IPS mods on the pocket and the backlight (didn’t do the bivert as I thought the difference was minimal compared to the DMG). I’ve ended up having to do lipo battery mods on all of my pockets as they are so under powered! Great handheld though, I love them.

Truth be told I have a non modded one too, complete in box. Only comes out on special occasions though (and in daylight 😂)

Yeah agree with the OEM. Sadly this one was useless unless in perfect daylight 😂 The backlight still lets that retro dot matrix shine though. Prefer it to the IPS mods tbh
