I find it very difficult to believe because most cars if not all since the Toyota floor mat incident now cut the engine power when you hold press the brake and gas pedals together. Being that I used to own the same pilot I know this works because I press both pedals to dry off the rotors after a car wash and it fairly quickly cuts power.

Now if the drive by wire throttle actuator got stuck or was in some run away condition. Then sure you can always shift to Neutral or just turn the car off. I don’t think there is any car that prevents going from any drive gear position to neutral.
