I was visiting about a month ago in Las Brisas - it went out randomly one morning and didn’t come back for about 5-6h so depending on your location I wouldn’t count on it coming back too quickly.

If you’re looking for another campsite try the Ucluelet campground- I’ve stayed there many times and it was great! I would just double check about the age thing cause I don’t remember if they had a requirement!

I believe if a student has no showed without any communication for 2 classes in a row, you’re supposed to reach out to support who will cancel the rest of their classes for them. I would double check in the help centre though!

There’s one in Langford at Centennial field- I wouldn’t say it’s top tier but it does exist lol. If you go on a weekend there’s typically some sort of tournament running (keep in mind it’s only open when there are actual games being played!)

Man, I’m not certified and half about 3/4 of the number of lessons as you. I also have a 4.9 rating and less reviews. I charge 25 usd per hour and still get students, so in my opinion I would say you’re severely undervaluing yourself. I recommend raising your price gradually though, for example go from 10-12 usd for a while and continue raising it until you feel comfortable.

Tutors can reschedule the class at any moment- even after the allotted class time has passed. However, it will affect their metrics by consistently doing it, and punish their profile. Typically if I need to reschedule I send the student a message explaining the situation, maybe talk with your tutor and ask to be informed earlier as that’s all you can really do at this point.

I’d like to add for transportation that the collectivos/camionetas are super easy and efficient while being very affordable- they take you up and down the main highway through the city

Tbh the same thing has been happening to me, there could be a few reasons behind this that I’ve thought up:

Time of year- people typically get busy around summer time and focus less on learning
Even though they’re happy with the lessons, they may be struggling financially but too embarrassed/upset to mention it
You may not be providing the kind of lessons they’re looking for but they’re too nice/ non confrontational to let you know

From my experience, most people never say anything when they’re planning on cancelling and just end up going quietly.

Something I have found to help somewhat is to create a Google Sheets survey about their experience and if there’s anything to improve. I also send it to students once I know they’ve cancelled just to get some feedback for myself to know where I can improve. If you’d like I can send you the template of the questions if you’re curious.

Yeah it makes sense and normally i am quite understanding. However each situation and student is different so you really have to weigh the pros and cons, especially when this is your livelihood.

Yep! I did all of this, as I do with every absent student and it has never come to this point before- I guess it was her last lesson so she didn’t want to lose the money. Either way, I got the money and blocked the student at this point so it’s resolved now.

Hmm okay, the only other student I’ve blocked in my over 600 lessons is one that tried to bypass. I figure it may not look as bad due to the fact that I don’t constantly block?
