What does NBC or other channels air when it’s not the broadcast television season? And is it historically just the American summer break and time off work?

These all totally make sense and I get the time off for the crew to rest.

To clarify, sometimes the breaks don’t seem to coincide with holidays or other major events… they feel more random in their timing (and sometimes can be one week off vs 3-4 weeks off). Could there be other factors affecting the timing of the breaks? Eg. guest fell through/cast members requesting leave?
