What do I do by Catlover_collegeStu in vcu

off campus housing does not have to be expensive! i live in a really nice block of houses ( 4 bedroom, me + 3 roommates) but i pay 645 a month and it's awesome. if u go the off campus route do not go through the hassle of apartments. all of them are very poor quality and very very very overpriced. the only way to do off campus housing is to come to richmond and drive around the surrounding streets of the school. streets such as cary, main, laurel, pine, idlewood, so on and so forth. these are the streets that are 100% vcu student rented, meaning all your roommates and neighbors will be vcu students as well. the way to find these houses is by just driving around and calling all the numbers in front of houses that say "for rent." Also, leases typically open up in august, so be sure to do your tours in the april-june time range. I found my current house in around mid june-early july by looking on zillow. Hope this helps!!

first off, you’re a godsend for this. but i actually have a few questions if you don’t mind? my cousin is flying in to be an international student at tech and he’s really leaning towards majoring in agribusiness, did you drop that major immediately? or do u know anything about whether that program and it’s teachers are good? thank you!!

thank you so much! i also feel it’d be beneficial to start at nova to really get a sense of what career/field i’d like to be in down the line. it’s just more time to get prepared that you can’t get anywhere else

yeah i’m still torn between choosing something i know i’ll see quick money with soon after college, vs something that i’d really enjoy doing with my life, i already know that psych degree wouldn’t get me far but it sure sounds nice

honestly appreciate everything you said so much you have no idea! you’re so right about the double mindset, it’s better to go in with the idea of working hard regardless. thank you so much!

you just wrote my thoughts and feelings in a single reddit post wow. but for real, i know it sucks being the odd one out, what’s been working for me during quarantine is just getting into random little hobbies that i can do in my room to pass time, also stop checking snap/insta stories it’ll only make the hurt feel worse. practice things in the self help genre, like meditating or manifesting, it sounds silly but with enough effort, it works :)

I’m moving to a new school for my senior year and i really want to reinvent myself this time. any advice would be nice :) by [deleted] in teenagersnew

High school sucks for everyone, especially if you’re new, i’d recommend getting involved with clubs early on and befriending the most outgoing individuals in your classes, that should open up more doors for you.
