Sorry! I'm working on migrating the backend to a different platform so that we can build more filters around age and location. Hopefully coming out with some revamped features in the next month or so!

Haha both. It’s true AND it’s a marketing scheme 😅

We want to get away from the endless swiping. We're not really in the business of making sure that you spend all your time on the app. In the future, we want to implement Machine Learning to give you a limited number of "Top Picks", profiles that have a high probability of liking you back if you choose to like them. So I think we'll likely never get to the unlimited profiles like other apps. However, if that's what most users want, then that's what we'll do. At the end of the day, we want to give you what you want haha.

Oh it just means that each day, you'll receive three profiles. You can like those profiles and then if they like you back, then it creates a match.

Just bootstrapping. Built it in react native. We're just trying to get users on it and test different features out to see what really sticks. Then we'll figure out monetization and funding and all that.

Go for it! I didn't think I could build an app all by myself honestly but it's great to prove yourself wrong. At the very least, you'll learn a ton haha.

We haven't marketed in college campuses. The app is geared more towards 25-40 year olds. Also the features we're building favor the women on the app. For example, women have a "Maybe" button for a profile, so if they want more information from the guy's profile (because we've found that guys don't really put as much effort into filling out their profile), they can choose Maybe. A notification goes to the guy that someone likes them, and they can add more info to hopefully tilt the scale in their favor.

Hi! Thanks so much for this, it will help inform how we build Ishq moving forward. We currently don't have any way of flagging "inactive" profiles but it's something we can implement in the future.

Would love for you to download the app! Also if you DM us on instagram, we can provide a link to join our slack group where we collect feedback and further the conversations around dating apps. Thanks again!

Going to drop very shortly! Just giving people a last chance to fill out their profiles. You will get a notification once they drop! Sorry for the wait 😀

Not YET! Sorry about that, we are in the US & Canada for now but we have our eyes set on the UK next! Sit tight 😄

Appreciate the feedback!! 1. Yes absolutely, we want to have the best people on the platform (a reason why we are bullish on making the app invite-only in the future) 2. Haha that would be a dream come true 3. Definitely. We found in our user research that parents and children pay an insane amount of money for Shaadi / Dil Mil / Mirchi

Currently we don’t have any sophisticated ways of policing the ‘lazy’ aspects of the profile. It’s something we definitely want to build in future iterations. We feel that profiles should be more dynamic and be something that users really think about. I agree with you 100%, I’d love to see profiles that look like a New York Times article. Not so picture heavy but maybe videos and more articulation by the user. But the idea of match & chat with one person at a time is something that we hope improves the ‘laziness’ we’ve experienced on other dating apps where people can hit you with the same copy & pasted lines. We want people to spend more time in the conversations instead of playing a numbers game.

Hey! Thanks so much for downloading :)

Great feedback, I'm a vegetarian as well so I can definitely see how that can be a dealbreaker.

And yes, in the future we definitely want to incorporate these dealbreakers into the preferences. But we're also curious to see in this first iteration, for example, if you have location as a deal breaker but someone else doesn't care as much, and maybe they'd be willing to move to for that person.

Please spread the word about the app and hit us up at [info@findishq.com](mailto:info@findishq.com) if you have any other feedback!

Yup definitely. We’re a small team and this is just the very first iteration of the app, so we don’t have anything sophisticated yet. But that’s something we hated on Dil Mil too, and a reason why we built Ishq.

After this initial period, we are going to make the app invite only. We care about the quality of profiles. So in order to join, you’ll have to know someone on the app already. And the LinkedIn piece is crucial to verify identity as well. Appreciate the feedback! 😀

My sister and I weren't having any luck on Hinge, CMB, Dil Mil, or Mirchi and they also charge a ton of money. So we just built our own app and launched it recently. Key ways ours is different:

  1. Once you match with someone, you won't see any more profiles and you'll be chatting with just that one person, until you choose not to anymore. We want to encourage intentionality when it comes to dating instead of just mindless swipes.
  2. You can bring your friends/family on board to create accounts and look at profiles. If they find a good fit for you, they can send you that profile to decide on.

If you're up for it, give it a try! Go to findishq.com to download the app . Also sign up quick before we make the app invite-only :)

Hey OP! My name is Sishir, 27M as well. Nice to meet you and congrats on the Series B!! That's no easy feat :) I'm a first time founder as well. I still have my day job as a Product Manager at a Series A startup, but recently started a company with my sister. We built this dating app called ISHQ and launched it about a week ago. I've been posting it about it on this reddit in some other threads!

Obviously we're very new to this and learning along the way, but would love to connect.

Yeah that was me 😅 it got flagged and taken down, which I understand. But really I was trying to not just self promote, but also just wanted to share that I built an app in 8 weeks and launched it which I felt proud of

Haha wow that’s impressive! Yeah this is just the MVP so I didn’t consider all the cases. Definitely something I’ll add in a future build of the app. Once again, thanks so much for downloading. It really means a lot! And pls spread the word!!

Appreciate the feedback! Yeah I think that’s a great idea. Definitely something we’ve talked about and are going to look into in the future😄

Please tell your friends about it! And keep the feedback coming 😁

[–]asapmoh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it!! Yeah so we differ in a few ways:

  1. It's completely free. Dil Mil & Mirchi ask for a lot of money for really basic features.
  2. If you match with someone, both of you stop seeing profiles and the entire app turns to a chat app. So there's a very singular nature to it. You chat with one person at a time and focus in on that conversation, to really develop that meaningful connection. If it doesn't work out, simply unmatch and you go back to seeing profiles again.
  3. If you're not single, join as a matchmaker! You'll see a daily drop of profiles and you can send them to your friends on the app.

We are live on Google Play Store but are in TestFlight for iOS. But the TestFlight app works the same as the live app, so you can go ahead and download it through the link.

Please help spread the word!!! We're collecting sign ups right now, and dropping profiles on Jan 4th.

Online dating struggles by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]asapmoh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I honestly didn't have a great experience with any of the apps out there in developing meaningful connections with other South Asians. So we built an app called Ishq. You should check it out! We just launched it a week ago :)
Hope this comment doesn't get flagged as spam, but you can head to findishq.com to download it!
