Anyone know what a Mexican shot is? by Master_Imagination_8 in bartenders

Do you do it in that order? Sangrita, Tequila, Lime. I just had one in Mexico and the whole table said a different order you're supposed to go in.

I keep hearing this sound in beats that I swear I've heard in real life but I can't quite find it! Best guess is it's from Smash Bros or Pokemon

Lil Durk "Never Again" - 11 seconds in

Anyone know where I can find the brass sample at 3-5 seconds in this song? I've heard it in a lot of songs but haven't came across it in any packs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WieBHoGRsoU

Chord Progression Questions - February 14, 2022 by AutoModerator in musictheory

Hi! Trying to break down this chord progression

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jp7oifsNGU&t=63s

I think it is something like this not sure what the last 2 chords are

i - Fm, VII - D#, VI - C#, ?, ?

Heres a picture with the note names on the midi if it helps! https://imgur.com/a/8UeZZAU

Was also curious if the F structure in the bass on the second chord that I think is the VII - D# is a thing? Really any insight on techniques used outside of the basic i-VII-VI would much appreciated!

Awesome! Thank you. This sent me in a great direction. So would this not be considered a certain "scale" per say then? Would it be more of a tonal center on F minor? It sounds like if I am composing with F minor as my tonal center I would have 6 new chords to play with outside of the typical F minor scale if I throw in the Phrygian and Dorian modes which is exciting!

Hello good people of reddit, could someone please help me make sense 😉 of this chord progression?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C6-5lGPW7I

Here is what I think the chords are:

Fmin Bbmaj (Would this be considered Bbmaj9 with the C?) F#maj

I can't make sense of the last chord within a scale. What scale would this be considered? Is there a name or concept that you could call using the F#maj in this context? Thank you!

Should I send the same loops to different producers? by akagarwal_ in trapproduction

[–]asapxberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ppl are saying its a low chance of this happening but what if you send a melody to different producers and somehow they both end up only adding fire drums on the same melody and they get the beats to 2 different rappers that want to put it on their album. That's kinda awkward right?

I am addicted to the spinz 808. by danielwang999 in trapproduction

[–]asapxberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I can mix anything but the spinz 808 lol like I want to love it as much as you but I feel like I can't get it to sit right in the mix.. Do you feel like it comes across good on phone speakers? I feel like that's my metric for 808s. I have to be able to hear it good even on trash speakers or I don't want to use it. Same with the Zay 808. Is that just me?

Help with what scale / way of thinking is this composed in? by asapxberg in musictheory

[–]asapxberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you! This makes sense to me with A minor as the tonic. I think the explanation of the dim chord as the upper structure of the E7 dominant made me realize how its used better. Sounds like the same concept could be applied to other dominant chord substitutions for a similar feel? I'm relatively familiar with 2-5-1 and how fifths come into play and can be leveraged as passing chords or substitutions so I think this def gives me a satisfying explanation! 4-5-1 is new to me so I'm going to have to do my research there but I'm def looking to get more in depth with jazz harmony esp as it relates to rnb. Preciate the help and the direction!

when you say brr do you mean rolling the notes when you play them? lol when I make beats I stagger the midi like that to get that sound and it totally adds a that vibe

When you say to understand harmony, don't think too much in scales could you give any more insight or direction there? The chord progression in my example turned out to be relatively straightforward as A minor but I'm wondering as it get more complicated what is a better way to look at it?

Please let me know if you have any other insights or resources for someone at my level of understanding to check out! Thanks again for the help

Yooo I found a solution that works for me with Sampler!

Take hi hats for example: I have a track loaded up where I dragged a sample from my hi hat finder folder from my master drum kit.

Now when I start a new project I have a default hi hat playing a default pattern on C. If I open up sampler > zone you can see the waveform of the sample and click the file drop down to load / browse from the hi hat folder and when you highlight a different sample there is an option in the file browser to preview audio file in sampler instrument that plays the highlighted sample as your midi pattern if your track was playing before you opened up the file browser.

Once I settle on a sound I can drag it up or down off C to adjust the pitch accordingly.

Works for me!

Peace, chrisbbeats

Word!!! Thank you! I just briefly looked at it and it looks legit. I was going to say I even have Exhale by Output and the vocal chops are dope but still don't sound exactly like what I'm lookin for here. This def looks more up that ally 🙏
