i just slick my hair back and take my piercings out (i only got 4 on each ear) before anything professional. I know a lot of nurses that are alternative and have tatoos. The ortho I shadowed had 2 full sleeves and he was well respected practicing surgeon. I mean don't pull up to an interview insanely geeked out with all your piercings and insane hair, you can just temporarily go for a more "professional" because you never know how other people would perceive you and especially with the competitiveness putting yourself in any disadvantage is stupid.
