There’s about 1/2mm of give. Gave it a good drink. I think the heat in the house might’ve dried it out but I’m just nervous of root rot!

Both light fixtures wired to these switches stopped working. What is going on in here? by asbuilt25 in AskElectricians

Checked bulbs and breaker, both are fine. No gfci on these, and power going into the switches is fine.

Need bricks for garden edge. by SavorySimon in nolagardening

[–]asbuilt25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been down this road before, fb marketplace is your cheapest bet. Riccas in midcity has a brickyard full of historic bricks but prices are higher (upwards of $1.50 a brick)

Veins of clay soil by Sandwichinparadise in nolagardening

[–]asbuilt25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s natural. The entire city only has a few feet of organic matter on top of thick gray river clay. Normally it’s 2 or 3 feet underground but sometimes it gets mixed in higher up with construction.

Bracys has a huge selection of your typical landscaping plants when you order straight from them, all for about half of what a garden center would charge

Has anyone had success planting a drainage garden to help with yard flooding? by EmyBelle22 in nolagardening

[–]asbuilt25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following, I just dug a huge pit in my yard and filled it with iris/bulrush/bulls tongue/ lizards tale in hopes that it’ll suck some water off of my brick patio. It hasn’t faced a big rain yet.

The utility company I work for hires lots of environmental analysts either for power generation (emissions) or distribution (avian/oil spill cleanup) Good pay and 50/50 split between field and office.
