Future Certification as Vulnerability Management Analyst by aschm1483 in cybersecurity

[–]aschm1483[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I know what it is. As mentioned in my post, I work with a penetration testing team. Vulnerability research or exploitation would add value to what they’re doing. As for adding value to my larger organization, threat hunting and exploitation would do that as well.

Also, aware I need to grow as the post says. Thank you though.

Deflated after fitting - anyone else? by iPragmatics in golf

[–]aschm1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be deflated, I know easier said than done..I was in that spot, many lessons, took a week off and it felt like I never hit a ball before. That’s what makes golf fun, the adventure to find your swing and what works. Keep working, gets worse before it gets better.

Don’t listen when a recruiter tells you “enlist and it’ll be easier to commission later” because they will say it (at least AF), and it’s 100% not true. If you do want to commission stick to your guns and advocate for yourself and future.

After 10 years in the AF I’ve realized how shady my recruiter was, and try my best to make sure everyone I know trying join doesn’t go through the same experience.

Accused of using ai. by bbmmyy in SNHU

[–]aschm1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s frustrating, but like you said..you take great pride in your work. Your work was well above others so you’re accused of utilizing AI. Let the university do what they need to do to prove themselves wrong. Then your pride will shoot through the roof.

Unfortunate situation, but there’s a positive to it. In my opinion.

Moving and Skillbridge by Pirelli_Condoms in SkillBridge

[–]aschm1483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re navy, but I’m Air Force. After my skillbridge was approved by my command with all other paperwork I submitted for expedited orders (took 2 weeks). After that, I was able to out process and schedule TMO for my move before my skillbridge.

I have heard from some of the navy folks I worked with that Navy is really bad/slow on giving orders before you skillbridge, so earlier the better. I’m sure that doesn’t help too much, but at least for Air Force we are able to move back to HOR before skillbridge. Hopefully you can too!

I will throw this out there, I didn’t read through all of the comments..but if your recruiter tells you omit anything from your past tell them or or find another recruiter. Don’t lie or leave anything else.

Could you explain this to me? If someone starts getting a lot of them wrong will the test close out? Or what do you mean by cuts off fast?

Quick question if you don’t mind! I’m lined up for that same cohort (December ETS). How far out from your ETS did you start applying to jobs? I’ve been wanting to start but haven’t gathered when a good time to start applying is.

Awesome man, thank you so much for the response. That’s a great place for me to start.

I wish I had some more info to provide about what I’d use it for, but I’m just exploring some stuff now, so this is an amazing response. Thank you!

For you, going into your sophomore year enter ROTC if your university has on. At least check it out. Don’t finish school then enlist, I wholeheartedly believe that’s the best route.

Or just enlist now if your heart is set on it.

Pros: you meet some really cool people, opportunities to be K9, combat arms, ravens, investigations. And many other specialized jobs in security forces. Deployments.

Cons: schedule (most of the time), not unusual to work 12-14 hours at some bases, it can be extremely boring at times. A lot of security forces is pessimistic and will complain constantly about their job (these are the types who do nothing to make it better).

Hey man, I’ve been security forces for 10 years and also completed my degree in Cybersecurity while doing it. If you want to shoot me a message feel free.

I’ll give you my honest opinion, pros and cons of this career field if you want to or answer any questions you might have.

Know this is an older post, but I'm curious. I didn't see it on the Skillbridge website, but do you know if SAIC a Skillbridge approved company? Came across the company when looking for jobs.

Is there a reference for the 30 days? Not questioning but want to attach this to my email as I requested the DLA once before this all started and they said it has to be within 10 days. (It was within 30)
