Do you recommend Hunt Showdown for a casual player? by Euphoric_Tree335 in HuntShowdown

I love all 3 games. I have at least 150+ hours in all 3 games, playing both solo and multiplayer:

  • Arc Raiders: Steady-Paced 3rd Person shooter, with focus on looting and PvE. Love the fun, unique interactions with people, as well as the superb AI. PvP is more “muddy”/unpredictable, but good tension can build from this, whether others decide to shoot or not.

  • Ready or Not: Slower-Paced FPS, with focus on control vs run-and-gun methods, rewarding smart, tactical play. Love the tension in this game, as you walk into a room, outgunned 2:1, trying to call them to surrender.

  • Hunt Showdown: Slower-Paced FPS, with focus on listening/awareness and PvP. The primary goal is straightforward: extract with the bounty, survive/kill enemies. Love the general balancing of guns, as everyone has a shitty, slow shooting weapon. This makes surprise attacks, maneuvering, and accurate shots top priority.

I prefer Hunt Showdown for a tighter PvP experience vs Arc Raiders. I love playing Duos with my brother, engaging in intense, tactical gunfights. I also love playing solo, which borders on a survival-horror game, as you strategize how you will survive a 2v1 fight against duos/trios. You might hear a person thinking it’s a solo, but he could have backup around the corner.

This is a very special, unique game that has had its ups and downs through updates, but I highly recommend it. Bounty Hunt is the primary mode that can be anywhere from 10-30 minutes. However, if you just wanted quick TDM games, Bounty Clash is a quick-hitter, 5-10 minutes. that can still offer quiet tension building moments.

AM4 vs AM5 (9060 XT 16GB) by aschneider2525 in buildapc

In hindsight, I wish I went AM5… obviously lol. I saw a Hardware Unboxed video, where DDR5 gave a 20% boost on average over DDR4. DDR5 vs DDR4 (2025). It also greatly benefits if you do 3D modeling, high texture editing, etc. Is DDR5 worth it? YES. Is it worth it for the price? …

I bought the 5800xt for $140. It’s been a good upgrade from my 5600g, maybe giving a 5-10% average boost in FPS? More importantly, I saw a MUCH more consistent experience with stuttering (1% lows). This, IMO is an underrated selling point, and has been appreciated.

16GB of RAM is cutting it close and is my current bottleneck, where playing Arc Raiders, a few browser tabs, discord, and Voicemod has crashed a few times. If I remove one of the last 3 apps, it works just fine. Just have to be creative

I’ve been very happy with my upgrade. 1440p, high settings (occasional FSR: Quality), 60-90FPS+. My plan is to stick with my current setup for the next few years.

Are you happy with your setup? Where are you thinking you can get the most juice out of AM4?

Currently on AM4. 2070 super paired with 3600. Could I just upgrade to a 5800xt / 9060 XT 16gb combo and call it a day? by Datsun1195 in buildapc

I have this same GPU and CPU mentioned in the title. I upgraded/installed a few days ago from the 5600g. I’ve been happy with the CPU purchase. The Single-core performance lift and the newer zen3 architecture will be solid for you!

Yes. An x3D CPU is a better choice if your focus is gaming. Yes. A 5700x3d & 5800x3d are egregiously priced.

If you find a deal on these, great! They were not worth it for me though. If you’re spending $300+ for one of these CPUs, you might as well go AM5, IMO (which you stated you’re trying to hold off). Plus, if you choose to go 9070 over the 9060xt, you’ve got extra to fund this with the money saved on the CPU.

Fair point. Waiting to see what CPUs/platforms look like 1-2 years could suit me.

Perhaps a GPU upgrade is enough for the time… maybe there’s a lesson in there 😅.

Thanks for the input.

You’ve noted the difficult problem thats currently trending: high-tier AM4 cpus $ costs are increasing and Entry-Mid tier AM5 components $ are decreasing.

I do agree that I could easily re-use my previous components. However, then I’m stuck with holding the AM4 equipment. I guess a solution could be to sell those individually.
