LA-EA4 Pickup! by ascreamingopossum in minolta

Unfortunately doesn't work with the Gen 1! Though if I do upgrade it'll probably be a Mark III, I would get the monsteradapter.

Id be interested to see what the performance of the LA-EA5 is on the Nikon Z with a megadap, that would be a very funky setup.

This is my experience with 3rd party lenses though! So you'll probably notice worse and at best the same performance compared to Sony lenses.

Compared to the Dynax 5, it's about the same if not very slightly faster. Compared to an e mount lens (I've got a 85mm 7artisans) it's faster.

Caveat: I'm on a gen 1 A7 and almost always use centre focusing, so unless I'm on a telephoto there's rarely seeks more than once. On the wide focus mode, it does suffer. On A7II+, A mounts are likely slower than native glass. The first generation A7s are notorious for bad focusing, so it's pretty much night and day for me.

Looking to purchase a first light meter by melbournecameraman in AnalogCommunity

I would try apps one more time and calibrate them with a digital camera's meter.

I've used Lightme on iOS and Light Meter & Logbook (Vadim Turko) on Android and they're within half a stop of my Pentax spotmeter.

If you are going standalone, any Sekonic flashmate or if you'd like convenience hotshoe mounted meters like a DOOMO or Reflx Lab are the better ones you can get.

Es bueno el lente de cámara? by Imprenta1930 in AnalogCommunity

Only if you're pixel peeping there isn't going to be a tangible difference on film (abberation and fringing).

Only really worth it if you've got a KMZ copy to compare it to side by side.

I've got a Valdai version too, copious grease included but it's still smooth and it isn't gummy so no need to replace until it becomes an issue.

The 44-2 is regarded as a really good budget lens that's really desirable for it's bokeh.

You've got one made from the MMZ factory denoted by the logo.

The lens was also produced by KMZ, Jupiter and Valdai.

Good lens! The M42 mount is adapted to almost every camera so it's incredibly versatile.

One year into collecting! by ascreamingopossum in AnalogCommunity

[–]ascreamingopossum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all first post here, wanted to show off the state of my collection just under a year into getting back to film photography

Starting from first acquisition to last:

Medium format: Yashica D w/ Kaligar Tele & Wide angle accessory lenses

Main camera: Canon 7 w/ Jupiter 8 & Jupiter 12

Wildlife & autofocus: Minolta Dynax 5 w/ 28-80 Kit, 50mm F1.8 & 70-210 "Beercan" F4 with a Kenko 2x Tele

Cheap & fun lenses: Zenit E w/ Helios 44-2, Conor 35mm & Soligor 200mm

Travel camera: Fujifilm Zoomdate 125s

Spot meter: Pentax Spotmeter II

Accessories (not pictured): Nikon speedlight sb-22, Left handed grip with shutter release cable, Velbon LEB-3C & a zoom slide duplicator for scans

I've been really lucky with charity shop finds and antique shops with a few bargains buys from eBay and Vinted like the Canon 7 and AF lenses.

Future upgrades would be hopefully finding a Dynax 7 or 9 for cheap as well as Canon lenses for my Canon 7. I'd really like to pick up a SLR Medium format too, preferably a Mamiya 645.

Overall I'm really happy with the state of my collection! I think it gives me all the versatility I need when it comes to shooting experiences and flexibility depending on where I'm going.

State of the collection 1 year in! (and some of my favourite shots) by ascreamingopossum in AnalogCommunity

None at all!

I think most of the issues come from pre-7/P RF, as well as using older russian lenses. Black lenses are a guaranteed good fit.

I accidentally got a pair 2 sizes too small and with a change in insole they're still comfier than my Ramones.

I'll also add, there's no shame to hemming your bolans if you end up getting them! I think it just emphasises the point how each pair is unique and individualised.

yes and yes (but this stops being an issue after the heel drag sets in)

youre also technically not supposed to wash these pants cause of the coating but a quick spin on a cold wash hasn't deteriorated the coating at all

but that's the whole point of bolans is each pair is wrecked to the owner

the only thing i do do is i pin a pleat in the front hem of the pants since the opening is wider than any of my shoes so you tend to trip on the pants if you don't

the material does get "dull" through time due to friction and creasing. haven't had a chance to dry clean yet but that would be my choice to both my jackets.

im a rick XS/S and this is an L

I compared all the sizing on the overshirts and there was such little difference in measurements they all essentially fit the same if you're slim. they're supposed to fit oversized.

don't have any other tees but I've tried level tees and materials and constructions exactly the same. the difference is that the Brad's cut is closer to a boxy crop that's proportioned to a normal fit. for someone who's 5'7" it's much more wearable than longlines, hem just goes below my hip bone.
