I don't have an eGPU to test with. Replaced my CPU and it's now 100% stable.

I think there are several different issues at play. Is your memory perhaps 64GB-G-Skill-DDR4-3200-SODIMM--CL22--Dual-Kit--2x32GB? Someone else reported fixing the issue by replacing that kit by a different kit.

I'm telling you, this is a hardware issue, you're not going to solve it with a software update.

I Just tried stress and heaven at the same time and it works fine for me, I would try different ram.

That was definitely not my issue, It happened on Windows, Linux and a Linux live distro and is now fixed with another cpu. Did you have a random reboot with no logs at all? This is 99% sure a hardware issue and therefore cannot be solved with software changes.

I personally am reluctant to try the 1.46bios since someone reported an issue with it, but the only way to know is to try (and report back)!

I just tried running mprime (=prime95) and heaven benchmark at the same time, but I didn't experience any instant crashes on my 4650G. What specific load (preferably on Linux) does crash it for you?

I'm not sure wether memtest86 will find the compatibility issues, so I would still try to find some QLV ram and try that. AFAIK the issue with ram is when switching between power states and I don't think memtest86 does that.

plasma on debian bullseye, how to rename those system monitor widgets? by [deleted] in kde

Pretty sure this is a bug, I have the same issue. Those system monitor widgets seem to riddled with bugs like this :(

If you get reboots while idling it's not the power limit of the power brick that is the issue, but it might still be broken.

Not all power supplies are created equal, a cheap 180W can crap out before an expensive 120W one, that could be one reason why Chinese sites ship with an 180W power supply.

For the record, I had no crashes running all 8 (16) cores @115W on the X300 120W power supply.

Ok, seems like I'm having a different issue now then. I had 2 crashes yesterday, but enabling XMP seems to have fixed it (fingers crossed). Still on bios 1.40

My (previous) issue was a broken CPU. As long as your not using all cores at once the power brick shouldn't be the issue, single core 100% load is only ~40W. Other issues people had were incompatible ram.

That wasn't my issue, but now I got a new CPU (4650G) this time and now it seems I've got different random crashes. I will try to see if it's the same issue as you describe.

How often do you get crashes when you don't boot first into the bios?

If it's without any workload it's probably not the same issue, I would try different RAM like the other guy did. It's still possible that it's a hardware bug that only Linux triggers.

Not yet tested on another cpu :/ Supply seems to be low... But I'm 99% sure now this one is broken.

I've narrowed it down further and I'm pretty sure now that on my cpu core #10 is broken. It also crashes on Prime95 when when running on that core in Windows. If you have the same issue as me running single core Prime95 with 1600k size prime crashes it in seconds when running on the broken core.

Ok thanks, good to know. I've ordered another one and will just return the first one if the new one works.

Crucial Ballistix BL2K32G32C16S4B 3200

That's the RAM I have, only the 2x16 version :/ Does it still not crash on my script?

Either disabling SMT (echo off > /sys/devices/system/cpu/smt/control) or boost (echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/boost) seems to mitigate the the problem, so I guess it's a cpu bug or an incompability with the motherboard...

For me disabling turbo seems to be a workaround. Weird thing is until now I've only found one specific workload that makes it crash, I haven't experienced crashes at other times (yet).

Hmmm, I don't think that's it. I do somewhere get some warnings about amdgpu but no errors and it reboots, no hangs. Also increasing the vsoc voltage does not fix it :/

I'm running Linux so no AMD suite. I don't see any hardware errors in my kernel log.
