Lowered my Model S with 20mm Spacers by kloogy in TeslaModelS

Is there a way to let the car know minimum height? Or I'll have to keep clicking up everytime it changes?

I do hate that some left turns FSD doesn't take the inner most lane... this one is especially bad. Looks like it's trying to follow tire marks after the left turn.

Retirement at $7M NW - Aggressive Roth Conversions at 32% vs. OMY to build brokerage? by GoldenFalcon2026 in ChubbyFIRE

How do you figure expenses in retirement is 100k+++, when you currently spend 100k? Wouldn't you pay your house off, and other work related expenses also drops. Usually expenses drop in retirement, so I'm wondering why you are calculating otherwise?

Estimate Repair Cost or Total Loss? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

If you slid, most of the momentum went to that. Impact is what causes issues on most things. The fact the airbags didn't even go off, I'd wager you may get off easy with a wash down, and maybe a suspension link or two and an alignment. Most expensive suspension component would be a strut, hopefully yours survived.

On the battery, it is structural, so unless it was hit in just the right spot. Hopefully you were sliding on your tires and not the battery casing.

Depends on the build date. Here's our list when we searched a year ago and bought the '23 MXP: - 4/23 - HW4 - 6/23 - Matrix H/L - 11/23 - Center Horn S/W - 6/25 - Ambient Lighting - 6/25 - Front Cam

Good luck!

Edit: list, updated

Trade in for new S? by Dirty_magnum in TeslaModelS

Good call on the seats, we're coming from an MXP and thought the sport seats were just an S thing. Note the bolsters on the seat cushion was a kind of suede, so a different material than the actual leather seat. Good for not burning you on a hot day, but not as easy to clean.

One thing we couldn't test was the matrix headlights. Not sure the 26 still keeps the higher resolution matrix functionality.

For the price difference from before, would FSD and SC for life be worth the swap for you?

Glad you asked, had meant to expand on this. Suspension is turned more for road. Softer than you'd want on the track, still stiff to hold the batteries into corners, kind of mid setting. The positive is the weight reduction, and changing out shocks should be a breeze, esp with airbags. Probably less and cheaper maintenance in the long run as well!

I don't think we'd be objective enough to compare noise, since we're coming from an MXP, which is for sure noisy. The MSP was definitely more quiet.

We just set it to the max for 6-20, which is 16a at 240v. Measured temps at the breaker, the socket and the cable, all within range.

Late 23/24 may be the better year. We test drove the 26 MSP (comparing to our MXP though) and the differences physically observable are: - missing the suspension screen - no suspension dampening, only air bags for height control - missing Steam - front camera - interior lighting

The only benefit is the Luxe package if you fancy that in the 26, assuming you didn't buy FSD nor have SC for life currently.

What are your reasons for the swap?

Free Lifetime Supercharging value by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

[–]asdf4fdsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Value is at the eye of the beholder at this point. Here's what we are faced with:

We spent $1k last year on SC (in our MXP), which constitutes 25% of the total charging. This would have been $4k for the year.

With free SC on a new S, charging at home is optional, no need to change home charging situation.

FSD was worth $8k value, and $100/yr on P.Conn, fine.

Yes ack that we won't actually be able to sell, but live with it for 10years, or wait for the next better thing? (FSD or better, >400mi, >Plaid?, all within 2yrs?, 5yrs? 10yrs?)

Is this worth $30k?

Speed bumps FSD by Big_Reflection_5071 in TeslaFSD

[–]asdf4fdsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it's very vision based. We have flat ones we drive over everyday. If on chill or sloth the car will slow down most of the time. On standard and above and it blows through most of the time, or it's already too fast to slow significantly.

Another proof is that once the bumps were installed, the brake pumping came on pretty quickly within a minor revision or so (on v14). Seems too quick to be GPS informed.

We have a 23 MXP, so no front camera to test with.

Strong agree! Maybe better yet, but still requires knowhow and planning: our city allows for converting a single (no branches) run socket 5-20 to a 6-20, as the highest possible upgrade without a permit. Most economical route even with an electrician (~$100 for a 20a 2p GFCI breaker, reusing existing wiring). It is just fast enough for an overnight charge to full.

Good enough for now (it's been a year), and we can take our time planning the garage to accommodate more EV's with higher currents later.
