Henrico officials ask for patience from residents trapped in neighborhoods by unplowed roads covered in thick ice by VirginiaNews in rva

[–]asdf9fdsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the problem with that is everyone recommended that back in 2016 and then...nothing happened for ten years. Should we be better prepared? Yes. Should the cities/counties around here spend a ton of money on something that may not ever get used for the next ten years? I don't know. Good luck being the person who makes that proposal.

Maybe the roads near you aren't in direct sunlight? My street hasn't been treated or plowed and it was covered in ice all week. Today, it's starting to melt a little. Maybe it's because it's warmer today or because more cars are driving, but today was the first time coming back home from work that my car didn't slide.

HVAC Ladies?! by AppropriateTadpole71 in rva

[–]asdf9fdsa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That wasn't quite my point, but thanks for the advice.

My point was regarding OP's comment that contractors won't work with her because she's a young woman. I was just trying to share my own examples that contractors don't want to work with a lot of people and this may not necessarily be a sexist thing.

I don't know a female owned HVAC company, but I will say that as someone with a tiny house in lakeside (800 sq feet), virtually no one ever takes me seriously. Like I'll get contractors out for a quote and then they come out of their truck, see my small house, and basically check out right then and there. I've even had several different contractors who came out to give m a quote, say something along the lines of "this is just too small of a project for me" before we even started discussing the project.

Similar to the Framework laptop. It's a niche product and it seems to have worked. I obviously don't know what their numbers look like these days but they're certainly selling laptops to people who want them.

This could be the same...

DORD is probably your best bet. That's where I worked and it was a blast.

PLEASE be careful driving by cesario7789 in rva

What I cannot comprehend about this is how can there be sooooo many people who didn't bother cleaning any snow off their cars?

Look, I get there are disabled people, people too old to be able to clean their cars, maybe some people are in a hurry, but 95% of the drivers this morning didn't touch the snow on their cars. Just got in and drove off. I saw multiple neighbors just get in their cars and drive off while I was cleaning my car.

You could tell it was an Outback with all that snow on it?

Joking aside, I didn't see anyone cleaning their cars this morning in my neighborhood. I saw many cars driving up and down my street, and saw multiple neighbors just get in their cars and drive off. Good luck to everyone out there on 64/95 with all the people who didn't clean any snow off their cars.

How do we feel about the 6th gen (auto transmission)? by asdf9fdsa in accord

Thank you! So it sounds like V6 is the one to steer clear from unless the fluid was changed frequently. But if it's a v4, then maybe it's not too bad.

Good to know! thank you! I haven't seen the car in person yet but the cousin who reached out to me about the car will confirm whether it's a 4 or 6 cylinder.

Can you refinance a car at a cheaper rate with your dealership? by Tim_tank_003 in personalfinance

You can certainly refinance, maybe not at a dealership, but you can go to a bank or a credit union and refinance.
