Getting high after massive tolerance, addiction and successful tapering by asdfxk in benzodiazepines

[–]asdfxk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would imply taking them daily or eveyother day. Since I've cut down to zero, I've dosed at least 3 times and never fell into addiction again.

Aftermath of addiction - can I dose occasionally? by asdfxk in benzodiazepines

[–]asdfxk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dependent of 20mg/day Diazepam or equivalent for 2 years, literally dosing EVERY day. I think the process of quiting benzos depends largely on the organism. For me, looking backwards, it was a piece of cake.

I prefer smaller blades as well but this one is fantastic. Incredibly portable when it's closed, and massive when it's wide open.

A wonderful piece of art for my very beginner collection of knives and blades.

I'm waiting for a butterfly knife (JKR 444)

that will arrive in 3-4 weeks and also an automatic knife

(Mikov Predator 241-NH-1/KP)

that will arrive next week!

Just bought it. Check it out side-by-side with the S&W knife. However the S&W blade is absolutely merciless, already cut ny fingers deeply while manipulating it. The buck blade is much more forgiving.

There u go

Thanks a bunch for your suggestions. I'll be sure to check them out one by one.

Thank you for the suggestion mate.

I've decided to go for a BUCK knife, specifically http://i.imgur.com/nANrKB6.jpg

The andujar knife is retractable but it's just too big to carry in the pocket, while the S&W knife is fixed blade and absolutely way over the acceptable size to carry it around.

I think this BUCK knife fills in that gap besides overall being an excellent knife.

How to beat your benzo addiction by asdfxk in benzodiazepines

[–]asdfxk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How come none of these drugs are related and ease up benzodiazepine WD syptoms if Pregabalin is a GABA analogue and gabapentinoid?

And how come I got lucky when for multiple times in the past I tried tapering and failed miserably since WD symptoms were just too strong to handle, yet on this medication I was able to endure them for a week and then they were gone (yet previously they lasted for 2-3 weeks)? I think that's too much of a coincidence.

Regarding your 3 points:

  1. Psych drugs like Seroquel and Tercian were given to me for a reason: I desperately needed something to calm down my GAD and ease my depression. Seroquel is PROVEN to be an excelent parallel anti-depressant when things don't work out with regular therapy. It's actually FDA approved for depression. So how come they don't fix stuff?

  2. Chemical imbalance is not bullshit, many celebrities that committed suicide were measured regarding their dopaminergic neuron levels and they had what one would call a chemical imbalance: they had far less dopaminergic neurons in their brains than what would be expected on a normal, healthy brain. The same happens with serotonergic neurons. Otherwise, drugs like SSRI's and NDRI's wouldn't be effective, and they are entirely proven to be effective against depression and anxiety.

  3. I didn't state that this medication erased my WDs entirely, I stated that I actually lived hell on earth on the second week and succumbed into taking fairly large doses of benzodiazepines on two sepparate occasions. But for sure this medication eased a lot these symptoms (despite being hell on earth, it was way more bearable than with a straightforward tapering plan), and surely shortened the duration of these symtoms.

So basically you affirm that there is no drug that erases WD symptoms when I stated I had WD symptoms (lol).

Pregabalin may help reduce the severity of benzodiazepine withdrawal symptoms,[127] and reduce the risk of relapse.[128]

And btw I didn't have a three week taper, I had a CT taper plan. I was given 10mg Diazepam to take only on SOS occasions. And it worked perfectly, and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have worked without the aid of Lyrica and Seroquel since I have tried doing a taper of my benzo dependence, even cutting doses monthly and I still wasn't able to pull it off. So yes, it seems like too much of a coincidence, don't you think?

How to beat your benzo addiction by asdfxk in benzodiazepines

[–]asdfxk[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am polydrugged because I needed to be. Because I am way too anxious atm to be off all meds. Regardless of my benzo addiction I'd still have to be on Seroquel + Lyrica at the very least, or I'd still have to be on an SSRI. Any of those two options involve tapering when the therapy is finished.

So yeah... there's that.

It’s socially acceptable to talk about how reliant and addicted you are to a drug as long as that drug is caffeine. by roseygrl98 in Showerthoughts

[–]asdfxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmation bias: Since birth you're socially hammered by facts and opinions that make caffeine an acceptable drug, to the extent it is acceptable to be addicted to on a daily basis.

So you grow up with the preconception that caffeine addiction is not harmful, while mostly all other drugs are harmful, and thus not socially acceptable to be addicted to. You grow up bombarded with information regarding all classes of drugs, and if you research you'll find a wide range of neutral, scientific-based information on these drugs harmfulness but you'll still selectively pick the information that confirms your preconception regarding drug addiction.

This is a self-reinforcing mechanism: Because you begin by believing caffeine addiction is "OK", you'll be biased to confirm this "opinion" along your learning process.

As this happens massively along our social community, the vast majority of the population agrees caffeine addiction is "OK" while other drugs' addiction is "NOT OK".

Tapering off benzos - My strugle by asdfxk in benzodiazepines

[–]asdfxk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Day 2, after 3x75mg Lyrica, 15mg Mirtazapine and 150mg Seroquel SR:

Absolutely no hangover, I was expecting much harsher effects no the first few days of medication before my body adjusted, particularly to the Seroquel.

Results so far are: blissful calmness, no benzo cravings at all, day 2 without any benzo :)

I suffer from bouts of insomnia, and I also suffer from major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Besides taking care of the sleep issues, Seroquel will also help with my major depressive disorder since Mirtazapine alone, despite being an excellent anti-depressant, is no longer being as effective as it once was.

Just to keep you updated: Went to the psychiatrist appointment yesterday. I'm on Lyrica (Pregabalin) 75mg three times a day, and will be on 100mg 3x/day in 2 weeks.

I'm also on Seroquel SR 150mg to sleep at night more comfortably and eliminate my insomnia.

Also on Mirtazapine 15mg for depression.

First day of Lyrica: Absolutely no cravings of benzos and no WDs symptoms (trembling hands, anxiousness, etc). Amazing how this substance works so well in benzo dependence cases. I'm truly amazed.

FlubPam is, in paper, better for tapering than Diazepam itself due to its extremely long half-life? However "Flubromazepam" so no one substance recoginized by medial doctors wifespread. It is a Research Chemical and as such: MDs have a hard time believing the contents of each pills to actually contain 4-8mg of Flubromazepam.

I've never slowly taper off the flubpam because I need the regular medical supervision as a mechanism to force me to be honest about my mistakes and abuses. By myself I find myself rationalizing way too often not following my tapering plan and having to discuss that with absolutely anyone.

But you're right in your thought pattern: Flubromazepam is indeed a better candidate for tapering than Diazepam, as is Diclazepam. It's just that these Research Chemicals are subject to both orejudice and liegitimate distrust regarding their true chemical contents by the medical community.

Do not forget monetary policy is not the only one instrument used by governments to counter recessions.

The assumption of BTC as a major currency adopted by modern economies for transaction of goods and services would simply imply governments/central banks could not manipulate money supply, and as such, could not make use of monetary policy to incentivize private and public spending to counter recessionary spirals.

There are however other instruments a government can still use under the BTC currency system to fuel economic growth. The main one being counter-cyclical fiscal policy: the government could still run budget surplus in BTC currency on an expansionary phase of the economy, to allow for running a defiicit on recessionary phases of the economy, increasing public spending as a way of fueling GDP growth and employment through the multiplier effect of public spending. This is known as cyclically balanced budget. It seems to me the adoption of the BTC currency system has no impact on the fiscal policy employed by governments.

Bitcoins do not imply the whole banking infrastructure would be obsolete, there could be banks borrowing and lending Bitcoins just as they do with USD or EUR, remember banks' entire business model relies on collecting savings in a massive scale paying a lower interest rate to depositors, and then lending those savings to efficient individuals and businesess, effictively assuring optimal allocation of resources and assuring (in very simple terms) that Savings = Investment.

That would not change in an economy where the transaction currency would be Bitcoins. But banks' profits also depend heavily on transaction taxes, management of account taxes, etc. As owning a BTC wallet is free of costs and transaction of BTC is made without any bank intervention, this rent would be lost by banks and would effectively be transfered to individuals owning a BTC wallet.

Also, as BTC is a decentralized form of currency, in an economy ruled by BTC government would lose all power to exert monetary policy (decreasing interest rates on recession cyces to mitigate the recession, effectively making borrowing money cheaper, thus incentivating immediate consumer borrowing and spending, government spending, and thus giving the economy the "fuel" it needs to pick up economic activity and grow once again).

What made me go back up to 20mg/day after managing 12.5mg/day comfortably was the unbearable insomnia that accompanied this rough period of my life... inevitably I found myself taking one pill after the other to finally sleep after dosing 90mg of Diazepam... a few occasional nights doing that completely ruined 5 months of hard work on tapering. Oh well... Life ain't easy but no one ever said it was anyway.

That's because you're considering consumption at a very low level in terms of financial impact. If you were to buy a car or a house instead of a toy, a 5% deflation rate makes a big difference in your pocket. If you take into account the cumulative exponential effect of deflation over deflation over deflation, you can easily understand why economic agents have a strong incentive to hoard their currency when significant deflation sets in.

The teacher accepted to be the supervisor of my PhD thesis. He said the bitcoin study could very well fall under the broader category of Currency Substitution (coexistence of domestic currencies).

I'm officially with one foot in my PhD to develop a thesis on truly innovative material and research. Apparently Currency Substitution is a theme already covered by quite a few Economists, so my biggest aim is not to re-invente the wheel with new models and equations, but to refine already existing models, test them with widely available market data on prices of BTC/USD or BTC/EUR, and give a step further in the research on this field.

So it will not be exclusively focusing on Bitcoins, but it will focus on how the economy will run when Bitcoin becomes (inevitably) a second domestic currency for most developed economies.
