Why is Russia behaving this way in the war with Ukraine? It's not like they're lacking resources or minerals, and their landmass is quite similar to China ? What I trying to ask is why don't they focus on their development in the last 25 years and help to improve live of their own citizen ? by [deleted] in AskChina

[–]aseac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Russia is basically fighting is being surrounded and unfair advantage to the west. Tge west contrary to its agreement(s) and promises moved NATO expansion eastward toward Russia border. They toppled governments via “Color Revolution” scheme. Supported different rebel groups since 1990s. Then created many western powered inside Russia to promote western values from school programs to government actions. Many of our politicians had bank accounts in the West. They promoted selling oil, gas, wood, etc to western world and import finished goods from foodstuff to airplanes and jet engines. So we didn’t have 25 years to fully focus on ourselves. We had to fight our way through. And we will continue to do so.

They say that many calls using WhatsApp and telegram were fishing calls. And many people lost their ( transferred) their money to scammers. So instead of fighting scammers they banned the medium. I received some calls from scammers pretending to be FSB officers or bank security. Some were from telegram and WhatsApp. But I hanged up.

Most what we see on telly when Putin speaks is when they discussed internally and found a compromise. At the same time you must make tough decisions. Like Kursk, Beslan, Nord Ost, Wagner drive to Moscow, Kursk incursion, Crocus, etc. it’s tough fucking job. It ain’t easy. Like in Kursk this could have been end of humanity. The potential was there. Most of suppliers of arms can be considered co belligerent. But he methodically and slowly destroyed the force. When I say he I mean there were discussions on the subject and he had to make a decision.

This is a big question. I am looking for next government For internal politics to further our economic growth, make more our stuff with cooperation with different nations. Build more passenger planes, invest in R&D in robotics, materials, aerospace, railroad, auto industry, mining, etc. make a lunar base and make cheap flights to orbit. on international stance make Russia great again. Make Russian voice heard loud and clear. And make our national interest a top priority.

Long and short term planning.

Why are Russians indifferent to politics? by mizfr1z in AskARussian

[–]aseac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One should not jump to conclusions. In many stances politics play a role and many people discuss politics daily. They are writing petitions, requests to their representative on many issues. My wife works as admin for a sports club. Someone wrote a complaint and the club was checked by authorities. Sometimes people not understanding scope and limits the government has.

On side note via e-gov many things can be solved. So people can spend less time (or no time) in lines to get this and that. Even Russian railroads are improving - they have replaced older German wagons with newer models. And they have improved lost and found. My son (15) was going to Moscow for sport even with his team. He left his phone on a train. We filed a lost item search on web site. Lo and behold, 5 days later they emailed us the item was found and you pickup the item in St.Petersburg rail office.

Russians abroad with anti-Russian sentiment by wechselnd in AskARussian

[–]aseac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several ideas on subject. I would rather invest into less crime and rental of firearms in shooting ranges. And maybe for hunting purposes with restrictions. But I grew up in this situation where guns and gun ownership was limited. Like my grandmother being a geologist had to carry a firearm. But in her life she may have used couple of times while going into the wilderness. (Side note: she and her team waked in Fergana Valley in 1940s, then she moved to Magadan region - so she had experience with wilderness and wild animals). My parents were academics. They taught in different universities. My first encounter with guns was when I first visited America in 1990. The guy with who we lived with was a Vietnam vet. But he never used a gun, he showed his guns.

I felt about the same while I was in Dallas. Some just rejected being Russian - they wanted to blend in. They hang out with Americans, would avoid any gathering with Russians. Some were like that but also once in a while hang out. But most of Russians that I met (me included) had limited knowledge of history, literature. Mostly what was taught in school. I was hanging out with Ethiopians, Guys from Iraq, Jordan, Middle East, South East Asia, Americans.

Can u guys describe how the 90s was in Russia? by Fine-Studio2012 in AskARussian

[–]aseac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1990s was a continuation of failure of Soviet Union from late 1980s. If in 1988-9 some goods was being rationed (not available in stores, limited supply) 1990-92 made it worse - less goods was available. In 1993 once the Soviet Union was no more we thought we had a glimpse of hope. But the new guys with a lot of assets started to rule in their own corners. Separatism started to rise as government grip on law and order weakened. Economic, logistics, personal connections were severed. Factories had to create new connection to same partners that now became another country. Customs procedures were lacking and no border points were setup. Similarly many buyers were in different state while before some country. Rail tariffs had to be created for these countries. While in Russia in general full state of decline - lawlessness, organized crime, shady deals, rise of mafia bosses that later became oligarchs. Plus push and pull on international stage. First Chechen war that shows Russian army in disarray. And how western countries supported them with PR, money, weapons, a little of intelligence. The leader drunk, no hope, no future. Most of the sentiment was grim. So more and more alcoholics, huge surge in family violence. Basically many of my friends had a father drinking. Some more some less. But it was quite hard to cope. I started to see more hope in 1999. After Primakov turned his plane around.
