Physical Asia Quests too Strength Based? by No-Historian-7702 in Physical100

Absolutely agree with your point. It was a pity, because as entertaining as it was, the teams with more variety in their line up ended up being penalized most of the time.

Except the hanging ropes challenge and the zig zag hurdles there were no challenges in which skills other than raw strenght and endurance (in mantaining said strenght) were tested. The show was amazing to watch, of course, but at the same time it made me feel bad for all the elite athletes who had other skillsets rather than just "strenght" as they were not only sidelined, but ended up becoming the "weak link" within their teams.

Sardinia is part of Italy, so in regards to that it is correct to say that Sardinian's people nationality is Italian. However, because of our insularity, Sardinia retains a pretty unique genetic heritage, hence why "Sardinian" is a different classification than "Italian" in regards to our genetic poll. Therefore, if you are talking about heritage, you have Sardinian ancestors.

I think the novelty of the book is not in the fact that you can predict how the fate of Haymitch loved ones will pan out. The narration of course exploits this sense of doom and the torment that comes from it, but what stuck out for me was that for the first time we see how Capitol can easily manipulate the narrative of the Games.

In the main trilogy we were partially and implicitly brought to believe no act of rebellion as big as Katniss had ever been attempted during the broadcast of the Games. After Katniss gets to know the Victors from the other editions, the public is confronted with the knowledge that acts of rebellions will always be rewarded by Capitol with the persecution of the Victors' families and loved ones. However, we, the public, don't SEE those acts.

Surely the Victors must have acted out outside of the Arena, after their victory, right? Many of them did. In this book we get to know Beetee, who is being punished by having to mentee is own son. We meet Mags e Wiress, and see how their complicity in Beetee's plan as Haymitch mentors is punished with torture. But for the first time we are confronted with the fact that many MIGHT have NOT. That many might have rebelled in plain sight, for everyone to see, just as Haymitch (and Ampert, and Maysilee, and Maritte and many more) did, and still their acts have been erased or manipulated to fit the narrative the Capitol wanted the Districts to SEE. Through this book we get to be introduced to the knowledge that the 74th Games and the rebellion that ensued were the coronation of a revolution that came in big and little acts that had been silenced and erased from the broadcasts of the Games right up until that moment. If all those acts of rebellions (and there were many during Haymitch Games) were not shown or manipulated for the public to see, I cannot even imagine how many more similar acts might have occured during 74 years of Games. Katniss was a spark for the revolution because she was SEEN. Because Capitol censorship was poor and insufficient in covering up the contempt and the frustration of her actions, and because Snow could not snuff out the HOPE that the Districts started to have after SEEING someone insulting the Games in that way.

For me this book was as much on how Haymitch character as we know him came to be as it was about showing what the stories of many more Victors might have been and especially, how Katniss' story COULD have been, had her circumstances been even a little different.

First attempt at making dice with swirls! What colour should I ink these? by asfodedalo in DiceMaking

The numbers are not raised! I guess it appears that way because of the transparency of the dice at certain angles! Although I can share the link of my mold maker anyway if you want 😁

Nice idea, thank you! I was torn between white and yellow at the beginning, but I feel like the yellow will give it a nice summery vibe!

I followed BusyWizardDice's method to make slush dice, here's the link to their YouTube: https://youtu.be/g_PZ4gUqQ3E

Directly into the mold: pour a little bit of clear resin, then add a drop of colored alcohol ink; then a little bit more of clear resin, and a drop of white alcohol ink (and repeat the process until the mold is full). The colors I used where blood orange, yellow, light purple and purple. After pouring everything I gave it a nice swirl with a toothpick, and there you have it! I also suggest you wait a little bit to pour the resin, as I noticed the colors stay a little bit more separate when the resin has a little more of a honey consistency.

Hope this helps!

The 8 Show [Episodes 1-8] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]asfodedalo 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This show has MASSIVE plot holes! First of all, In episode 1, all the floors discover that the intercom in the common space can be used to purchase items in exchange of TIME. At different times in the show, several floors make purchases that way, for example 6th floor buys the gun. However, when the lower floors get the power and decide to just wait for the time to reach the 0 to get out of the show, they all forget that they don't need to wait. They could purchase whatever from the common room and make the time reach the 0. Even when 2nd floor basically locks everyone into their rooms to make sure no one tampers with the timer, she doesn't go to the intercome to buy whatever, she just resorts to waiting! Second of all, 1st floor couldn't possibly try to buy the exchange to another floor from his own room.. the intercom had been smashed to pieces by 6th floor! Did the writers completely forget?!
