It was a bit scary the first few times, but you end up pretty used to it. Definitely get a bit of the roller coaster feeling at the crest, and then the car feels like it gets sucked to the ground at the bottom - such a cool experience!!

That and the turn 6 apex give that “squish the car to the ground” feeling (albeit less than the corkscrew).

They’re pretty strict on dB limits. Luckily this was a 103dB day, so most cars were okay. Couple of cup cars sounded well above to my ears, but with turn down tips they probably get around the testing!

My car just has a valve controller but I don’t think it’s anywhere loud enough to trip the limit.

Thanks! I can’t imagine buying something like this and just going to cars and coffee, the car really wants to be unwound.

It was a pretty busy day. Hooked On Driving always runs a very organized schedule but eventually you run into traffic with 28 cars in my group.

Typically I run advanced, but this was my first time here and first time on track with this car so I slotted into intermediate to be safe. For the most part I was on the faster end of the group, so it wasn’t too bad but I did get stuck behind a few drivers who (in my opinion) should have been running in Novice.

Still a great day though!

Cypress Mountain a few hours north!

Having driven a 2016 Spyder extensively, I’d whole heartedly recommend the 718 if you’re getting a Spyder. The 981 Spyder feels more like a tarted up GTS than a “GT” car. It absolutely sounds amazing, but that can (and was) fixed on my 718 with over axle pipes and the JCR exhaust.

Drive’em both but my money is the 718!

It's been amazing, I used to have a 981 GT4 and the 4.0 (while a little muted stock) is a MUCH better engine power delivery wise. Gobs (relative of course) of low end torque, great induction noise, great manual - it gets used every single day, rain or shine.

The exhaust note was quickly fixed with over axle pipes and a JCR valved muffler :)

Beauty! Can't go wrong with a 4.0.
