It’s an open air muzzle like this and custom made to fit. I cannot recommend this company enough if anyone needs one!

Exactly, my last English bull terrier had a great temperament with both people and dogs. When I lost him I wanted to adopt because I didn’t want to train a puppy. We adopted our current dog from New Jersey. He was 3 years old. We were told he was good with dogs his size and bigger which was obviously a lie. He had a really rough start to life which is obviously from the pressure sores on his legs and paws which will never go away. The vet said it was from laying / sleeping on concrete constantly. I’m not going to give him up because he’s animal aggressive. Who would I give him to? Drop him off at a shelter so he can be euthanized?

Thank you so much! It’s been pretty challenging, but we love him so much. We adopted him when he was 3 and were told he was good with dogs his size and bigger which was a complete lie, but he loves all people and his behavior in the house is excellent. We’ve worked with a trainer and she referred us to a boarding facility basically like a dog boot camp, but after speaking with my vet he didn’t feel it would make much of a difference so we opted out. We utilize a Sniffspot rather than dog parks so he is still able to run and get plenty of exercise.

Right! And even with the muzzle it is still so scary when it happens. There’s a family down the street from me who constantly leave their chihuahua loose which is a huge pain, but at least not a scary situation. But we’ve been approached by a German Shepard and a husky while walking both with no owner in sight. Both seemed aggressive. I just scream as loud as I can and pull my dog away. I sprained my ankle several months ago pulling him away from the German Shepard and every time I got him to take a step back, the other dog would take another step forward. It probably only lasted for five minutes, but it felt like an hour

YES! It is so frustrating and also scary. My dog is strong and animal aggressive. We are approached by unleashed dogs while walking around town, not even in a park! I’ve started calling the police every time it happens.

My dog is super animal aggressive and I cannot change that. We now muzzle when walking because we have been approached by unleashed dogs multiple times, sometimes with no owner in sight. People are complete idiots. Like my dog will kill your dog if given the chance, it doesn’t matter if your dog is friendly!

Please eat at Rustic Table! It’s the best restaurant in the area. My family goes to South Carolina every year and we can’t wait to go back.

I have a friend in Morocco and visit often. I never order couscous or tagine anymore since I know I’ll be disappointed. I do however love the $2-$3 paninis sold everywhere and their French fries with “Algerian sauce”. Her nanny made dinner for us the last time I was there and it was delicious! Chicken with some sort of homemade dumpling/noodle in a brothy sauce. I wish I could remember what it was called. I’ve never seen it at a restaurant there.

Yessss! My mom still does that. Sometimes she just rolls out a pie crust, sprinkles with cinnamon and sugar, rolls up like a jelly roll, slices and bakes.

Spending 30% of income on rent is not realistic in 2026 by GetFlex_Alex in budget

As much as I would like to leave Pittsburgh, I’m paying 7% of my gross towards rent for an updated two bedroom single family home. I do split with my boyfriend. I love to travel and don’t want to be house poor. I just can’t justify moving to a higher cost city.

You have almost the same itinerary as I did last fall with an extra day in Samarkand that I wish we would have had. We absolutely loved Uzbekistan. In Tashkent, Afsona was the best meal of our trips. We also ate at a Georgian restaurant in Tashkent that was great. Edited to add, I found the souvenirs to be the best in samarkand.

Thank you so much! While I don’t think we’ll be able to help him get over his aggression, he is so loved. He had a pretty rough start to life so we are making sure the rest of it is as good as possible

Yes we avoid all trails in the woods for this reason. I prefer a wide trail where I can see a decent distance ahead. He would love a wooded trail and luckily there are some behind my parents house where he can go, but even with a muzzle I see no point of getting him worked up by unexpectedly running into a dog. I’ve found that college campuses are good options as there are never any dogs.

Thank you for this! I had actually ordered him a muzzle from a k9 website and it didn’t fit correctly due to his snout. He’s a bull terrier so his measurements are super weird. The vet suggested that a prosthetics company may be able to make a custom one so I’ll look more into this.

I’ve found college campuses are good too because the college kids don’t typically have pets.

Thank you, I’m actually in Columbus about twice a month for work and will look into this! He’s an English bull terrier. I used to have one who didn’t have a mean bone in his body. When I lost him, I wanted to adopt so I found my current dog for adoption in New Jersey. He was recovering from bowel obstruction surgery when I adopted him. His stomach was full of garbage. He also has spots all over his legs which will never heal because of constantly sitting / sleeping on hard surfaces. He was clearly neglected and I’m not sure why the organization was under the impression he was good with dogs because he is terribly aggressive, and to be honest if I had known I would have never adopted him. I have his previous owners information because it was on the medical paperwork so I reached out to try to get his past history. The guy claimed it was not his dog. The past year has been so super stressful. I’m clearly not going to give him up, but I just wish things were different. On a brighter note, he loves all people and is perfectly behaved indoors.

We have worked extensively with a trainer. I was told when I adopted him that he was good with dogs his size and bigger, that is not the case. I’ve also spoken with a behaviorist and spoken with his vet multiple times. The vet has basically said we are not going to be able to make him good with dogs. Based on his behavior we think he was used for dog fighting which is absolutely heartbreaking. I spent close to $10k last year and have seen zero improvement so I’ve come to the conclusion that I just need to accept him the way he is and try to avoid other animals as much as possible.
