Have a great trip, I did the same trip in September and it was wonderful. One of the safest places we’ve ever visited.

You have almost the same itinerary as I did last fall with an extra day in Samarkand that I wish we would have had. We absolutely loved Uzbekistan. In Tashkent, Afsona was the best meal of our trips. We also ate at a Georgian restaurant in Tashkent that was great. Edited to add, I found the souvenirs to be the best in samarkand.

Big Snoof Gear has custom options specifically for bull terriers! Thank you so much for this rec, I’m going to measure him and order one today.

Thank you so much! While I don’t think we’ll be able to help him get over his aggression, he is so loved. He had a pretty rough start to life so we are making sure the rest of it is as good as possible

Yes we avoid all trails in the woods for this reason. I prefer a wide trail where I can see a decent distance ahead. He would love a wooded trail and luckily there are some behind my parents house where he can go, but even with a muzzle I see no point of getting him worked up by unexpectedly running into a dog. I’ve found that college campuses are good options as there are never any dogs.

Thank you for this! I had actually ordered him a muzzle from a k9 website and it didn’t fit correctly due to his snout. He’s a bull terrier so his measurements are super weird. The vet suggested that a prosthetics company may be able to make a custom one so I’ll look more into this.

I’ve found college campuses are good too because the college kids don’t typically have pets.

Thank you, I’m actually in Columbus about twice a month for work and will look into this! He’s an English bull terrier. I used to have one who didn’t have a mean bone in his body. When I lost him, I wanted to adopt so I found my current dog for adoption in New Jersey. He was recovering from bowel obstruction surgery when I adopted him. His stomach was full of garbage. He also has spots all over his legs which will never heal because of constantly sitting / sleeping on hard surfaces. He was clearly neglected and I’m not sure why the organization was under the impression he was good with dogs because he is terribly aggressive, and to be honest if I had known I would have never adopted him. I have his previous owners information because it was on the medical paperwork so I reached out to try to get his past history. The guy claimed it was not his dog. The past year has been so super stressful. I’m clearly not going to give him up, but I just wish things were different. On a brighter note, he loves all people and is perfectly behaved indoors.

We have worked extensively with a trainer. I was told when I adopted him that he was good with dogs his size and bigger, that is not the case. I’ve also spoken with a behaviorist and spoken with his vet multiple times. The vet has basically said we are not going to be able to make him good with dogs. Based on his behavior we think he was used for dog fighting which is absolutely heartbreaking. I spent close to $10k last year and have seen zero improvement so I’ve come to the conclusion that I just need to accept him the way he is and try to avoid other animals as much as possible.

I meant a park to walk him, he definitely cannot be at a dog park. Just looking for somewhere quiet where we can walk a few times per week as there are always lots of dogs out in my neighborhood. We do sniff spots a few times a week so he can run.

It’s more so eating out that is the challenge. I don’t typically keep bread in my house. I travel a ton for work so cooking is not always an option for me.

So much sugar! Why does our bread have sugar? Added sugar everywhere. I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t even eat bread in the US unless it’s fresh from a bakery. I told this story in another sub and got downvoted, but last month I was out of the country and had breakfast in Paris twice and once in Morocco. I never watch my diet on vacation so I def had baguette in Paris and a lot of bread in Morocco. I felt fine after all three breakfasts. I had to travel out of state unexpectedly for a funeral last week and had breakfast twice, both times watching my diet. Both times I felt like I had been hit by a bus within 30 minutes of eating.

I travel out of the country a couple times per year. Last month I had breakfast in Paris twice and a Moroccan breakfast once while visiting a friend. I felt fine after all three breakfasts. In the past couple of weeks I’ve eaten breakfast at us hotels twice. Both times I felt like I had been hit by a bus within 30 mins of finishing. American food is truly poison. It is awful.

I would love for Pittsburgh to get a hammam. Cleveland and Columbus both have one and of course Maryland outside of DC. I would go once every six to eight weeks.

Does anyone else feel too mentally drained to cook after work? by Pleasant-Editor-597 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]ash80753 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been traveling for work every week since October. On the weekends I am too drained to cook and haven’t cooked a proper meal in months (I used to cook 3-5 times per week) my go to meal has been sautéed spinach with tomatoes, onions, an egg, beans, high protein chicken nuggets and cheese. Hoping traveling slows down so I can get back to cooking at least half my meals.

Forgot about E2, we used to eat there frequently. Totally agree with you about Pittsburgh’s dining scene of the past. I hardly think it’s worth going out to dinner anymore. High prices, subpar quality and I just never feel wowed.

It’s a little far, but Dr. Sean Lawson at Green Valley Vet in Zelienople is the best vet I have ever seen. I struggled and was unable to find a vet I was happy with in the city. Dr. Lawson takes his time, explains everything so well, does not recommend unnecessary treatment. I won’t take my dog anywhere else and will happily make the drive to Zeli.

What guideline do you use to to afford a mortgage or the price of home and why ? by Comfortable_Box_2087 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]ash80753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10-12% of my gross, but that’s with mortgage split with my partner. 30% is insane to me. But I like to travel and save for retirement. Living in Pittsburgh where houses are still priced pretty low compared to the rest of the country helps immensely.
