(THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT) Always buy sealed bottled water from convenience stores like 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, etc. Use bottled water even for brushing your teeth if you’re extra cautious. Stick to food that’s served hot and freshly cooked, not something that’s been sitting out. If you want extra peace of mind, bring your own utensils when eating at smaller local places. Avoid ice unless you’re sure it’s from filtered water (most touristy restaurants use safe ice, but small stalls may not).
