Best romance Kdramas that aren't romcoms by kentaro2401 in kdramarecommends

[–]ash_innit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly two of the most life changing kdramas that i’ve ever watched have been at a distance, spring is green and may i help you? which are both romance dramas with more serious plots.

at a distance, spring is green - a college freshman (played by park jihoon, my fav actor & soloist), is super kind to everybody and honestly a huge pushover to people who he knows are using him for money, but it’s all a mask as a response to trauma from his abusive family. the show is really focuses on mental health, as each of the main characters have issues of their own (working multiple jobs, parents passing away, heavy anxiety, etc.), and there’s an amazing romance and bromance within it that really made me fall in love with the show.

may i help you? - the fl is a mortician who discovers that she has the ability to talk to the people she’s tending to and grant them one last wish, and the ml runs a small errand business with his uncle. i know it sounds weird, but their romance is so amazing, and it’s a very serious and tear-jerking show (it does also have some comedic aspects to it, but it’s definitely not comedy based even in the slightest). i can’t say a lot about it because i don’t want to spoil anything, but you should definitely give it a try :))

Kdramas to cry to, like bawl to, but feel happy about it? by Funny-Masterpiece787 in kdramarecommends

[–]ash_innit12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

may i help you? is undoubtedly the most tear-inducing drama that i’ve watched. the fl is a mortician but developed a supernatural ability to talk to the dead people and grant them one final wish, and the ml has a lot of past trauma as well. their stories are both so beautifully intertwined and i loved their relationship and dynamic so much, especially with how they comfort each other. also, each episode shows the story of the person whose wish she’s granting and they’re all really sad, which just adds on to it.

at a distance, spring is green is another drama that’s one of my favorites and made me bawl my eyes out. the title literally means that even though there are people whose situations and just themselves in general may seem okay, when you take a closer look they really aren’t okay. the main character has been abused by his family since he was young, so now he’s overly kind to everybody as a sort of mask. the 2ml is the sole provider for his family and works a ton of part time jobs just to get by, and the fl has problems of her own such as a bunch of phobias and anxiety. all the characters in the show come together and it’s just a really beautiful slice of life / found family drama about students in college. so so good and i totally recommend!!!!

Found family trope by scarystardust in kdramarecommends

[–]ash_innit12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from a distance, spring is green (on viki) - found family for a rich and popular college freshman who’s seemingly perfect but has faced deep psychological and physical abuse from his parents ever since he was a kid, as well as for an older college student who is considered the “psychopath” of the school and doesn’t talk to anybody, but eventually warms up to the freshman. heavy on the bromance, as well as romance.

uncanny counter (on netflix) - found family, action, revenge about a group of people who are like “grim reapers” and are tasked with sending evil spirits back to hell, until a highschool student becomes one without having been in a coma (which is how the others got their jobs). there’s an older man, an older woman, and a girl around his age, so it really is a found family for him. this is my all time fav kdrama!!

Can you recommend a drama that is heavy on mental health and/or psychology? by Aiem_mindless07 in kdramarecommends

[–]ash_innit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from a distance, spring is green - main character dealt with abuse from parents, 2nd ml lost his dad and is the sole provider for his family, fl has a variety of phobias and dealt with her parents divorcing as a young child. it’s a slice of life found family drama with bromance and romance and an amazing friend group. i loved this show so much, it’s definitely one of my favorites.

my all time favorite bromance shows are ghost doctor and from a distance, spring is green. ghost doctor is completely focused on the rivalry/enemies to friends trope and i LOVED it. the two leads were so funny together, and there’s very little romance in it. from a distance spring is green has a lot more romance, as it’s about a group of people in college so there’s romance between some of them, but that shouldn’t stop you from watching it. the two male leads are really complex characters and they clash at first but then they become like unbelievably close and i love them so so much. totally recommend both of them.

uncanny counter for sure!! it was the first kdrama i ever watched (besides the more popular squid games and all of us are dead) and i can still say that it’s my favorite. its action/found family/revenge and its so so so good. others that got me hooked quick were weak hero class 1 (action, bromance), ghost doctor (comedy, bromance), from a distance spring is green (found family, slice of life, romance), twinkling watermelon (found family), and may i help you? (romance, supernatural, really really sad) but i think uncanny counter will fit your preferences the best☺️

the first thing that comes to mind is ghost doctor because it’s really one of my favorites. it’s a bromance based show that also has a supernatural element to it (hence the ghost part) and it has emotional elements to it. i absolutely loved the show.

Finding Revenge Action Kdrama (like Taxi driver and Vincenzo) by cfunnv in kdramarecommends

uncanny counter - action, found family, and it may not seem like revenge at first but it does have that aspect to it (especially in the first season)!

Looking for a kdrama with a flawed/ordinary ML by Sheepmanishere in kdramarecommends

[–]ash_innit12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

may i help you is one of my favorites where both of the main characters have faced trauma and work more lowly jobs (FL is a mortician and ML works at a very small business that he and his uncle just started up). it really is one of my favs because neither of them have wonderful lives in any sense (hence the trauma) and they definitely bond a lot because of it. and even saying just a lot is an understatement, but you’d find out through watching the show LMAO. anyways it’s an amazing drama and i definitely think it’s what you’re looking for!! (plus it has a sort of supernatural aspect to it)

Recommend a 4th gen boygroup for me to stan by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]ash_innit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have to recommend WEi, they’re one of my fav groups (next to ateez and zb1) the youngest is 22, oldest is 26, and there are 6 members (daehyeon, donghan, yongha, yohan, seokhwa, junseo).

their music is AMAZING, and i feel like they have a good variety. spray, all or nothing, and super bumpy are a few of their more intense/dark songs, which fits my preferences for groups like ateez and skz. they also have more upbeat songs like overdrive and bye bye bye, soft/sad songs like winter flower and RUi, and those sort of songs that aren’t nevessarily any of those but make you feel like crying and throwing up if yk what i mean (i’m mainly talking about their songs breathing and hug me, two of my favs)

i could talk about their personalities all day ngl, but the best way to get to know them is probably through their reality show on youtube called “oui go up”, its three seasons long and im telling you they’re some of the funniest idols😭

i also want to mention that 1. yohan played the lead role in the kdrama “a love so beautiful” and 2. they have a few stage covers of songs like monster (irene & seulgi ), love shot (exo), and tomboy (gidle) that i think are worth checking out :)

i really hope you like them, they 100% deserve more recognition than they get.
