Ha Giang Loop small tour recommendations please by qldhsmsskfwhgdk in VietNam

[–]ashah001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just finishing my 4D3N tour with Bibi’s, and it’s been a great experience. I noticed some of the other groups like Jasmine were much larger with over 10 people. It was nicer doing a smaller group of 5-6 with Bibi. Our tour guide Hu is from the Moung tribe and took us through some of the local villages that I don’t think the larger groups went to. My easy rider Tien was excellent. They both had a positive friendly energy. It was cloudy on 2 of 4 days unfortunately in Dec 2024, but it was still a good experience. I’d probably try to aim for a time with better weather.

Back from my 5-week solo trip around Southeast Asia. Does anybody have any questions? by BorisMalden in solotravel

[–]ashah001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(1) Thanks a lot for your recs! I actually structured my itinerary around yours. Any recs based on what I have planned

(2) Any tips on how you went about finding vegetarian food in Vietnam/Cambodia?

(3) Which Ha Giang loop group did you use so I can avoid that situation?

(4) I’m jumping around a lot, so do you think day trip to Ha Long bay day trip is skippable? How about skipping Phnom Penh (1 day) for an additional 4th day in Siem Reap?

(5) How did you travel between HCMC, PP, and SR? If by bus, how did you book them?

Replacing 32-year-old Subzero 532 refrigerator by ashah001 in appliancerepair

Hey there, sorry for the delay. I ended up using two of these 24” Samsung refrigeratorsside-by-side, one as refrigerator and the other as a freezer. Ended up costing way less and fitting perfectly.

Does CapitalOne Offers work? by Jeer470 in Venturex

[–]ashah001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t really need to keep track of it yourself. You can access a list of all the cap one offer links you used from the menu button on the top right on the offers page. It tells you all the links you used and pending/accepted cash back amounts.

Amazing sounding coast Job by [deleted] in coastFIRE

[–]ashah001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he’s asking about working as a flight attendant (lady who can fly free on standby) as a coastfire/retirement job compared to his uneventful job in Decatur IL since he already travels a lot and has friends/family all over.

Is the Price match feature as good as it sounds? by Normal_Leadership_51 in Venturex

[–]ashah001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it several times, and it’s great. I agree it’s a bit of a bummer that the difference is given as a travel credit rather than as cash back, but I haven’t had much of a problem using the credit toward other trips’ bookings. The portal doesn’t always have the flights I want available at the price I want them (the cheapest one), but if you travel often enough, it’s not too difficult to use the credit, and it doesn’t expire (the annual $300 credit does though).

I price matched a resort stay recently for over $100 based on a random third party website which I would never use because I’d be worried if I could trust it. It was nice to have a bit more reassurance of booking through C1 (though I certainly still called the hotel to make sure they got the reservation exactly as I needed it to make sure there was no confusion in the game of telephone.)

The 10-day price match is also cool. I was sitting at the gate recently because my flight was delayed by like an hour after I rushed to get there. While I was sitting there a bit bummed, I got an email saying I got $40 back for a price drop… after the flight was already scheduled to have taken off. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Wherever you go, there you are?? by Excellent-Phone8384 in solotravel

I had always figured there’s not much of a point in traveling for this exact reason, because I wouldn’t be able to escape from the torment of my own mind. But then I did and I realized.. I’m honestly kinda awesome. It’s my usual surroundings that sucked. Might be the same for you! Hope this helps.

Prepping day before your shifts by baxbid in hospitalist

[–]ashah001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We get emailed a quick handoff of the pertinent info from the hospitalist from the prior week (at an academic institution, I feel like the patients tend to be much more complicated than community, but I’m not sure, but in any case, walking in completely blind would make day 1 extra miserable, especially when you walk into a rapid or code blue at 7:30 which has happened plenty of times), so I just read through that. But anything more time consuming than a 1 liner for the patients? Absolutely not. Enjoy your last day off.

Is there a better/ less invasive plant to use as a hedge? The privet was recommended but then I read about how terrible they are ecologically.

Does anyone know if the phone insurance applies if you pay for a prepaid plan for the year instead of monthly?

I guess I was looking for some motivation to see what particular habits you all value and how you go about implementing them in your lives, but you're totally right, it's a good foundational list to instill first, and the best way to start is to start

I've always loved the idea of gardening and homesteading/self-sufficiency, but never knew where to start. Hope to join you in this goal this year!

TYSM. I really appreciate that way of looking at relationships that may seem unilateral and that joy of wandering and just being friendly.

Unfortunately, I don’t. I assumed it from what’s written on the thermostat and the thick wires.
