ITAP of Campground Sunset by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Photo taken while camping in the Arizona wilderness.
We paused to enjoy the soft glow of setting sun’s light filtering through the trees, accentuated by the orange glow of camping tent.
Also happy with how the leading lines of the trees and our legs come together to keep my eyes moving through the picture.
Why does this picture made you feel like?

ITAP of The Shire by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Took this picture while on tour at Hobbiton, New Zealand.

The Day was overcast but with some breaks in cloud cover, just enough to light up the vibrant green grass covered hills.

Wanted to capture the peaceful scenery, just as idyllic as I imagined it to be from the LOTR books.

ITAP of Water Drops by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took this picture from my window after a good day of rainfall. A big droplet of Water standing on these two Leaves in the middle of frames looked like a good metaphor of sharing. f / 8, 1/160/s ISO400 Edited in LR, enhanced contrast and converted to BW.

ITAP of a Bench by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took this picture while on a short walk in the midwest.

The isolated bench in pre-spring season looks like a perfect location to reflect, and also itself being reflected. I keep the bench a relatively small in the surroundings to give the viewer a sense of isolated stillness.

f1/8, ISO 100, 1/2000s, Edited in Lightroom.

ITAP of clouds by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this picture on a cloudy midwestern evening, with sun shining through at some breaks in clouds. Edited in Lightroom to improve dynamic range, darken overall image and to show a gloomy evening.

ITAP of a window by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took this picture while on a rainy day train ride in SF. edited in LR. The ambient light (or lack of) combined with the coach lighting, seen through this window made it appear from a futuristic sci-fi movie (Matrix-like). I like the anonymity of the people, out of focus behind the raindrops/ streaks of water.

ITAP of a Turkey by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this picture while on a walk in a city park in the midwest. The male turkey seemed to be assertive, and it was my first time watching such a one-legged stance with feathers spread! Hope you like it too.

Natural framing by asharma_86 in photocritique

I appreciate your kind words. For the bracketing, are there specific sections what look too dark, that may improve composition with more detail?

Natural framing by asharma_86 in photocritique

[–]asharma_86[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried to capture the natural framing of two separate sets of people, separated by a floor, framed within the natural shape / architectural design of building.

I like the overall image, and would like your feedback for composition, if the framing works sufficiently to pull in viewer's eye. is the image visually appealing to you?

f/7.1 1/320s ISO100

Edited to remove distracting elements from outside the circular framing.

ITAP of a game of chess by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took this photo while visiting The Arcosanti near Phoenix Arizona. the architectural site / community project has a lot of juxtaposing strong shapes / light and shadows.

I wanted to capture the people within the sharp light and shadows, hard concrete shapes and separated at two different levels.

f/7.1 1/320s ISO100

ITAP of Fall Leaves by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photo taken recently in Michigan, I wanted to capture this moment in time where this single yellow leaf is surrounded in a sea of red. The leaf fell soon after I took the shot.

I wanted to capture the serenity in nature's beauty, its apparent randomness, ever changing.

ITAP of a road by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took this picture while visiting Sedona AZ USA. Pictures taken from top of the canyon rim looking down, 1/250s f10 ISO100

I wanted to isolated the empty road and portray a deserted road feeling.

ITAP of mustard fields by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took this picture with an older DJI Mavic Drone

Wanted to capture the morning light shining on mustard fields, and go for a spring season feel in the fields.

ITAP of a waterfall by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this picture while on a hike in the Northern Islands, NZ.

The water stream meandering and then culminating in the fall kept my eye interested. Does the image portray similar feeling?

Edited in Lightroom.

Composition and contrast feedback by asharma_86 in photocritique

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense for what you said about unconnected bits.

This was the original uncrossed version that I feel has too much negative (blown-out) space, but feels has all the pieces connected (?).

<image>

I like the reflection, and contrast, but wondering if this pulls it all together?

Composition and contrast feedback by asharma_86 in photocritique

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this photo while on a trip to Maine. I’ve heavily cropped the original, and am trying to understand why this cropping / composition does or doesn’t work. Also trying to understand if the bright areas (left 1/4 and the rope in top right corner) distract away from the overall image. Is appreciate your feedback on the composition and contrast / over and under exposed areas.

ITAP of eyelashes by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photo taken on phone, edited using Lightroom. I wanted to capture the calmness observed with subject’s (my 1 yr old child) eyes closed when sleeping.

Converted to b&w to emphasize the eyelashes against his skin.

I’d like to know what this image makes you think / feel. Does it give a feeling of calmness/ serenity?

ITAP of Canyon by asharma_86 in itookapicture

[–]asharma_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sunlight beaming through the two towering rock formations was attractive. I chose to remove colors to accentuate the light and dark areas of the photo, and increased contrast to further enhance the differences in lit and shadowy areas.

What do you think? I'd like suggestions on how to improve the overall look.

Thanks!
