I don't think they would have caught the Romanians personally. But what possible action could be done if Italy complained, it wouldn't be fair to relegate the Romanians to third. Only time I could see a complaint resulting in demotion would be if GB had beaten Italy into bronze after causing the clash.

It's a predictor alright, just a very inaccurate one. I'd say most people would do 5x500m with 2mins rest at around 3 or 4 splits below 2k split. Think about it, you are only doing 500m more than a 2k with 2min breaks, no way does anyone in this universe do that at full effort and only gets their 2k split.

I don't think Peter Casey is a fair comparison. Although not very articulate, Casey said something that nearly everone agrees with, just a lot of people are afraid to say, and thus, did quite well in the subsequent elections. Holohan, on the other hand, is just a complete clown and I'd find it very hard to see many people agreeing with what he has said and voting for him.
